About

I am an aspiring actress who is having trouble getting an agent because of my size. Now, it’s not like I am huge or anything but neither am I a near anorexic little thing who barely weighs 100lbs soaking wet. I need to find a happy middle, somewhere I am thin enough to get an agent and auditions but not so thin I am sick. Does that place even exist? I am going to find out! I hope to be the Amazing Shrinking Woman! This blog will hold me accountable for my actions ie. what I stuff in my face and what exercise I don’t do. It is my hope writing out what I go thru in my attempt to lose weight will help keep me focused and on track…keep your fingers crossed for me! πŸ™‚

Quick sidenote: when I started this blog the weight watchers program I was on was the “current program” but the program has changed since then and I am now using the “old program”. I didn’t switch to the new Points Plus program so if you are on that program you will notice my daily points and how I calculate points for my food is different from yours – sorry for any confusion this may cause! πŸ™‚

Yet another sidenote: I have stopped using the Weight Watcher’s program and am now following a low carb diet and more structured exercise plan that has been created by someone I know who knows waaaaay more about health and fitness then I ever will lol. Β His blog is here: Β http://if0you0dont0know0then0you0dont0know.wordpress.com/

Woohoo, another sidenote! I stopped the plan from my friend when I got a new job. The plan was very structured and time specific for when to eat and when to exercise and I just couldn’t manage it with my new work schedule. I’ve been struggling for a while now with what to eat and been choosing my exercises because of what I thought I would enjoy instead of what I thought would get me the best workout (for example, going for a hike instead of going to the gym). I am now mad at myself because I gained back a bit of the weight I lost, boo! As of Nov 14/13 I’m eating a stricter than normal Paleo diet and exercising at least every second day if not more often with the goal of losing a pant size by Dec 22/13 when I go home for my birthday and Christmas, gotta look good right? Right! lol πŸ™‚

Jan 16/14: Is there no end to my sidenotes? lol Right now I am not following any kind of recognizable plan, sadness. My goal to lose a pant size by Dec 22/13 failed, arg, and the failure of that plan kinda knocked me off the rails. If following a super strict eating and exercise plan doesn’t work then what will? Least that was my thinking for a while. I had a couple weeks of “whatever” mentality, along with being sick and then injured so I hit a lazy slump, oops! I’m now working to get out of that. I’m attempting to eat like a “normal person”, by this I mean make healthy decisions but don’t be crazy obsessed about weighing/measuring every morsel of food that passes my lips. I am also going to start a 6 day a week gym routine that will hopefully burn fat and build muscle. I have a friend who is a trainer (different one from the one I mention earlier in this section) who is helping me find a new plan to follow. Once I have a more structured plan I’ll let ya know what it is!

    Hi, Shrinking Woman,

I’m writing you today to ask if you would share info about my doctoral dissertation with your network through email or a blog post. I’m looking for volunteers to take a survey on partner undermining of weight loss (I only need 15 more people for this round of recruiting!)

While it’s hard losing weight on your own, it’s not necessarily easier with a spouse or partner. Sometimes partners/spouses undermine weight loss through acts like complaining about healthier food, gifting high-caloric foods, or even through abusive language/acts. I’m creating an anonymous, online survey to assess for partner undermining and to learn more from those who experience it.

To be eligible to take the survey, participants need to have experienced this in their current relationship (of at least the past 2 years), and have been participating in a weight loss program for the past 5 consecutive weeks. For more info, see http://tinyurl.com/Clark-Study. Participants who complete the survey may opt to enter a drawing for $100.

Thanks in advance for your help!
    Amanda

Have you considered a raw vegetarian diet? works for me

    • shrinkingwmn February 15, 2014 at 1:01 am #

Hi! I briefly tried a raw veg diet because it worked so well for a friend of mine, for me it was a disaster lol I lasted about 4 days before I cracked lol I really need my meat and peanut butter and carbs *rolls eyes* or I become a cranky cranky person.
That’s great it works for you though, you must have wicked strong will power! πŸ™‚

Hello, Nice to meet you. I am vertically challenged. I would be the perfect weight if I was MUCH taller. So think we will get along well. I look forward for following your blog.

Hi! Great to meet you too. πŸ™‚ I’d love a little more height to make me thinner also, but unfortunately I am not vertically challenged and any more height would make me a giant lol I took a look at your blog and it looks great, can’t wait to get more tips to help me organize. πŸ™‚
