I have this rockin salad bowl, seriously, the best salad bowl a person will ever come accross. I inherited it from RA, she didn’t want to pack it up when she moved so I got to keep it. 🙂 Well, it has had a good life but tonight, sigh, it passed on. I am not even sure how it happened…just one of those things I guess, bigger sigh. I put my dinner in it and then noticed a crack, not just a little crack but it went right from the top edge of the bowl to the bottom and completely through the width of the dish, I could actually make the crack wider by how I manipulated the bowl. Sadness. I of course ate my dinner out of it, cause hello? my food was already in it but that will be the last time it gets used. 😦
For me, and most people (I think), presentation of food is a big part in the enjoyment of the food. I always enjoyed building my salad in this bowl and it was big enough to hold a freakin huge salad, lol. Guess I will just have to find another one…this one was made in Boonton NJ – didn’t even know that was a place, I will probably pick up the next generation of salad bowl at The Bay lol.
So enough about salad bowls! I took the Pumpkin Tarts to work today and they were quite the hit – they didn’t all get eaten but that’s cause I made a freakish huge quantity. 😛 I am sure they will get finished tomorrow, or at least they better cause I am not bringing them home! I don’t want the temptation near me cause dude, even I think they are good and I am uber critical of my baking.
My dinner tonight was waaaay too late for my tummy’s comfort. tsk tsk to me. I got home and put the oven on right away cause I decided to go the baked potato route for dinner, well the stupid thing took forever to bake through! It was getting so bad I cut it open so it’d cook faster…it didn’t seem to help much. sigh. Now, I know that potatoes can be baked in the microwave but for some reason potatoes are one of those foods that I don’t like cooking in the microwave, shrug. Normally I am all over doing things the fast way but when baking a potatoe I prefer the oven…although I might use the microwave from now on! Seriously, I was so hungry by the time it was done I was certain it woudn’t fill me up cause I had waited too long, and that is when it is topped with cheese and baked beans! I waited a while after finishing it before I went for a snack cause I ate way faster then I should have and my stomach hadn’t realized it had been fed a proper amount. Oops!
I still ended up having a snack of bread topped with margarine and light peanut butter – I originally was going to try some of the pumpkin pudding from yesterday but I needed something way more filling, so bread and pb it was! Maybe I will try the pudding tomorrow…we shall see. 🙂
Today I ate:
29 grams Special K Vanilla Almond = 2 points
1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point
1 small banana = 1 point
1 cup carrot soup = 2 points
1/2 Dempster’s Body Wise Bagel = 1 point
2 triangles light laughing cow cheese = 1 point
1 Activia yogurt = 2 points
1 peach = 1 point
1 baked potatoe (12 oz) = 3 points
1/2 cup Heinz Baked Beans original flavour = 2 points
2 cheese slices = 2 points
1 piece bread = 1 point
1 tsp margarine = 1 point
1/2 tbls light peanut butter = 1 point
That puts me at a total of 21 points, I am going to have a 1 point candy after I finish writing this so that will put me at my daily 22. 🙂
The half a bagel I ate at lunch, I didn’t intentionally only eat half a bagel, it got burned beyond redemption in the toaster and I could only save half of it. Very sad…and smelly. lol. The half I got to eat was pretty good, it’s only a 2 point bagel which rocks and it’s a decent size – bigger then the weight watchers bagels. 🙂 I found them at Wal-Mart for way cheap which is a happy bonus. I didn’t want to eat a bagel everyday so I have stuck them in the freezer and if I think I am going to want one the next day I take it out the night before and give it time to defrost. This means a bit of planning ahead, something I know a lot of people hate doing when it comes to their meals, but ah well, it’s one of the tools you end up using when trying to lose weight. shrug.
if you don’t want to wait for your potato to bake in the oven, cheat a little, and start it in the microwave, for 4 minutes on high, then put it in the oven, and it should be ready in about 15 minutes – I had a baked potato in a restaurant (can’t remember which one) but it had been brushed with oil then rolled in sea salt – sooooooo good, but probably more points!
If you want another taste and don’t mind the wait – make a slit in the potato, stuff it with slices of onion and cheese, wrap in foil and bake in the oven – takes longer, but is really good. Don’t think that would work in the microwave, but it might if you wrap it in a paper towel.
Seriously? 15 minutes in the oven after only 4 minutes in the microwave?? eesh. my stupid potatoe was in there over an hour! I think I will have to give up my prejudice towards microwaving potatoes and try that next time. 🙂
