My Brain Is Stumped

21 Oct

I can’t seem to write a post today to save my life. sigh. It’s not writer’s block exactly, I have written two well thought out drafts…and then I deleted them because they are not what I want to post on this blog. One was too well, weird, the other was somehow becoming political…all cause I wanted to share a picture but the picture needs an explanation and the explanation was getting out of hand. I am the least politically minded person out there and well, hello? this is a weight loss blog – not a politics blog! Too bad about the picture tho…shrug.

I haven’t posted in a couple days, mostly cause nothing all that interesting was going on. lol. I had intended to post yesterday but got in this strange mood and actually wanted to pack so I figured I better not waste it lol. It’s not that I don’t like packing, I mean, really, what’s not to like? Put on some music, have a drink near by and put your stuff in boxes – easy peasy. 🙂 But I keep putting it off, mostly cause I am lazy…and scared of spiders. *shudder*. I don’t want to pack at night cause I’m scared when I’m moving furniture or getting stuff from under my bed or up high in my closet I’ll disturb spiders and I’ll see them but not easily enough to be able to kill them before they hide somewhere I can’t follow…like under a baseboard. ick. Then I’ll be freaking out about the spider, and how it is watching me and waiting for me to sleep so it can exact some sort of revenge, and I’ll be too icked out to do much else.

During the day I am out and about doing random prepping-for-the-move errands (like getting boxes, booking a truck etc) and when I get home from all of that I have just enough time to get a bite to eat before going to boxing. Which, fyi, tuesday was my last Dragon Boating session, then I boxed wed, thurs and fri and every-freakin-muscle in my body aches, and I mean aches! *groan*

This whole week I have felt off, I can’t figure what it is, but the boxing classes seemed harder then normal, my rowing was off a bit, it just seems like I am getting muscle fatigue quicker and it’s lasting longer then what I normally experience. I am hoping this is my body realizing I’m gonna keep making it work out even if it does insist on plateuing and so it’s caved and is building muscle mass and getting rid of fat – fingers crossed!

But yeah, so really, the only time I have to pack is in the evenings after boxing, so starting around 9pm or so but that’s when things get creepy cause of spiders…so I’ve been letting the whole packing thing kinda stay on the back burner…*whistles innocently*

I realized (thanks to my mom) that perhaps I have let things slide just a tad too much and should start packing. ugh.

I am quite possibly the least organized packer out there lol. I started in my room, got to a point and stopped there. Oh, and the ‘point’ I got to and then stopped at? Doesn’t really make any sense. Some of my books were packed but not even half, the contents of my desk drawers were packed up but not the stuff on my desk, most of the non-clothing items in my closet were packed but not quite all of them…you get the idea I’m sure. 😛 Then I moved to the living room…*rolls eyes*…most of my movies are packed, but not all, I did manage to pack an entire two shelves of a three shelf bookcase, and some random decorative items are now packed…ok, fine, most of them are packed. lol.

The only thing I am organized with is the labelling of boxes. Every box gets a number, I have a notebook where I write down the box number and the contents of that box so I know where every item is. Oh, and each box is labelled what room it needs to go in to at the new place, if it has fragile items in it and if it is heavy…I’d say that’s a decent level of organization, kinda… 😉

I’m happy to be able to say that the food-buying rules I came up with a couple weeks ago are still holding firm. 🙂 I am only buying (when needed obviously lol) eggs, milk, bread, yogurt, fresh fruit. I am not buying frozen food items, canned or boxed foods. This is not some weird addition to my healthy eating plan, lol, this is so I have less food to move. I don’t know about you but I somehow end up with a stockpile of boxed/canned foods. Most of it comes from when something is on ridiculously good sale, like the Thinsations, every now and then they go on a great sale so I stock up cause I know I am gonna eat them. But I always eat certain flavours faster then others so when I finish eating say, the Oreo Cakesters, instead of saying I can’t buy anymore until I have also finished the other types off I will buy more Cakesters. Gradually, I end up with more food in my cupboards then is practical for me space wise and diet wise. Sometimes it’s useful to have this stockpile, like when money is so short that I can’t afford to buy anything, then I know I have some food in the cupboards that I can eat, but really, a package of Thinsations chocolate covered pretzels does not a meal make – no matter how tasty they are. Yum! lol. 😛

Everytime I finish something and can get rid of the box or can or bag I get a little happy glow. 🙂 Yeah, so what if that is lame. 😛 lol. I did cave, kinda, and bought some frozen chicken breasts. I had a RainCheck for them cause when they were on sale the store was out of stock and I realized last night when cooking dinner once the chicken breast I was cooking was eaten the only things in my kitchen that would have protein were my last two hot dog weiners, eggs and peanut butter. Rather pathetic considering how often I exercise. lol. Sooooo, I decided buying the chicken, while yes, it was bringing food into the apartment, isn’t such a bad decision cause I’ll have eaten most of it by the time I move, and, well, it’s kind of a necessity, right? 😉

For Absolutely No Reason What So Ever

22 Oct

Alrighty, confession time…I just ate something for absolutely no reason what so ever.  I wasn’t hungry, I didn’t have any points left I was trying to use, I didn’t have a gun to my head and a crazy person telling me to eat or they’ll shoot. I just ate. sigh.

This week has been weird, everyday I feel like I have failed. I am not sure why; when I tally up my flex points I have used 10.5 for the week so more then I would like but not more then what I am allowed. shrug. Maybe it is because I usually don’t use my flex points? I really don’t know – this may remain a mystery which would be so uncool. I almost feel  like I am self sabatoging by eating the flex points and that is bringing me down, I know that I’m not actually self sabatoging, I know I am s’posed to eat the flex points, and yet…I feel like this. double sigh.

I had errands after work and one of them took me to the grocery store, exciting huh? Anyways, they have a section where you can buy sushi made that day and for some reason I really wanted sushi. I haven’t had sushi since this whole thing started (well, ok, I had like three pieces way back in summer when hanging with my mom, so shoot me! 😛 ), the reason I haven’t eaten it is because the sushi I like best are the rolls and those are hard to calculate points for – there is the rice, the filling, the sauces…I could probably get pretty close to the number if there were no sauces on them, but hello? that’s what makes the chef’s rolls so yummy! So I haven’t been eating sushi. I had a nice big salad waiting for me in the fridge at home and was planning to go eat that but somehow I ended up in the sushi section and you guessed it, I bought and then ate sushi. It was pretty good, I got Spicy Shrimp Mayo rolls – I normally don’t eat those cause I don’t go in for spicy but as soon as I saw them that was what I wanted. And who am I to ignore a craving? lol.

I have noticed that this week, that I am craving things I normally don’t and things I normally like to eat are turning me off. Weird, huh? I wonder if I am missing something in my diet and my body is sending me signals I can’t properly interpret in an attempt to get what it needs…thing is though, I have read a couple different studies that say the myth that we crave certain foods because our bodies are missing something that food has is just that, a myth. Someone probably made it up to give an excuse for all the chocolate they eat! lol.

Today I ate:

29 grams Special K Vanilla Almond = 2 points

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1 banana = 1 point

1 BodyWise bagel = 2 points

2 triangles light laughing cow cheese = 1 point

1 cup Fire Roasted Sweet Pepper and Tomato soup = 2 points

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

1/2 cup cottage cheese = 2 points

Sushi, Spicy Shrimp Mayo rolls = 10 points

1 Thinsations Fudge Dipped Bar = 1 point

So a total of 24 points for the day. I normally try to be more careful on fridays, not use my flex points since I will be weighing in tomorrow but when I was done the sushi I was already one point over for the day and I was still, hmm, I was going to say I was still hungry but that isn’t right, I just still wanted to eat. shrug.

This is the problem that is plaguing me this evening – I am not hungry but I want to eat. Even now, when I know how many points I have eaten, when I know I am not hungry, when I know it is late-ish and I shouldn’t eat I want to eat. Argh!! What’s up with that? sigh. Goes with the week I am having I guess. *rolls eyes* I am gonna watch a bit of tv then go to bed early, pathetic for a friday evening I know, lol, but I have to get away from the kitchen and if I am sleeping I can’t be eating!

Oh! quick side note! That Thinsations Fudge Dipped  Bar I ate, soooo yum! Mom told me about them and I spent weeks looking for them, of course, the week I stopped looking for them is when I found them in the grocery store, lol. They are like an oreo and a cake all wrapped in chocolate – that’s not quite the right description but it’s the best I have, and the best part is each bar is only 1 point! Most Thinsations foods are 2 points per serving so this is a bonus at only 1 point and it’s a really decent portion size too. 😀 If you can find them, and you like chocolate, I say buy them, totally worth the money and points!

A Perfect 22

8 Aug

Today is my second day at 22 points; weekends are either really hard to not mess up my points on or really easy…never just run of the mill. shrug. I think it’s cause I sleep in and just eat whenever I want not when it fits into my work schedule. When left to my own devices I go to extremes, I either eat everything in sight or nothing at all. Since following weight watchers I can’t do that; I have to eat the same amount on the weekends as I do on the weekdays…I still find it hard but losing weight is worth the effort. 🙂 I noticed today that on weekends I am still for the most part eating my food in big sessions instead of small meals throughout the day like all the experts say I am s’posed to do but hey, least I am still eating my points. lol.

I had these really amazing grilled veggies with my dinner today; I got them from M&m’s Meat Shop – the same place I got those salmon steaks from. I wanted to get them earlier in the summer when they first came out but when I noticed them it was right before I was going on vacation so there didn’t seem to be any point in getting them then. Turns out it was a good thing I didn’t get them then cause when I went in to the store yesterday they were on sale cause it’s now end of summer and they are getting new things to replace the grilled veggies. Works for me! There are a mixture of veggies in the package; you just put some on a baking tray, drizzle them with a bit of vegetable oil and stick them in a pre-heated oven for 18 mins…yum! I burned them a little but they were still good. 🙂 I like how they are frozen so I don’t have to rush eating them; I had some today and I am sure I will eat more of them this coming week but if I decide I don’t want to eat any of them for a while it doesn’t matter cause they’ll just sit in my freezer waiting for me. Yah for frozen food! lol

There are two conflicting arguments about veggies; some people say don’t buy frozen cause they lose nutritional value in the freezing process, others say eating frozen is better because they are flash frozen and the nutritional value is retained while the “fresh” veggies we buy at the grocery store have been travelling for who knows how long and everyday they are away from the day they were picked they lose nutrients. I am not a food scientist, I try to research what I hear and wonder about so I can know the facts about what I am doing and make lifestyle changes accordingly but this one I just don’t know. shrug. I keep coming up with conflicting information so I am going to leave the figuring out of this problem to the scientists and continue to eat a combination of fresh and frozen veggies. Seems like a safe bet to me! 🙂

Today I ate:

1/2 cup Heinz Maple Baked Beans = 2 points

1 fried egg = 2 points

2 pcs toast = 2 points

2 tsp margarine = 2 points

1 tblsp Kraft Raspberry Jam = 1 point

1 piece frozen battered fish = 4 points

grilled veggies = 0 points

1/2 cup Sidekicks Cheddar Broccoli rice = 3 points

1 medium slush = 2 points

1 cup 1% milk = 2 points

1 pckg Weight Watchers Cheese Twists = 2 points

Total points used is 22. 😀

the weight watchers version of Thinsation Cheetos

The weight watchers cheese twists are the ww version of Thinsations Cheetos (which are really good!)…these are pretty good, they have a slightly off flavour that I can’t pin down but that’s alright. I guess weight watchers figured if people were gonna go crazy over all the Thinsation snacks out there they might as well get there own version and rake in more money that way. lol. Can’t really blame them. I think the next time I will probably buy the Thinsation Cheetos over the weight watcher cheese twists because (1) the cheetos have a slightly better flavour and (2) the thinsations are cheaper. Nothing against weight watchers food, shrug, but I have to look out for my bank account balance here. lol.

It will be interesting to see how I do with my 22 points when it’s a work day; this weekend was easy. The weather was rainy and blah so I stayed in for most of the 2 days just reading and watching movies, relaxing. Aaaah, so nice! Because I was so inactive and slept so much tho my appetite was less then what it is on a more active day, not like at work I am crazy active but I am awake for longer on work days and just from normal daily activities am more active. I have gotten ready some raw veggies for me to have as a snack that way if I want to eat more then what my 22 points will let me I can eat those and not use any points. Hopefully this plan works! 🙂
