The Day After

11 Oct

So yesterday was the worst food day I have had since this whole journey started, I thought today might feel like I was starting over but it doesn’t, it feels like one more day in the journey – which I think is good, means I am still on my path and the little (freakin big!) detour I took yesterday wasn’t such a big deal. Sounds pretty good, don’t-cha think? 😛

I slept in, aaaaah, gotta love doing that on a monday! Before I went out I made sure to have a nice big meal so as to prevent any screwing up while I was out. I had the two left over slices of pizza in the fridge and I kept toying with eating those and just getting them out of the way but instead I made a grilled sandwich and had some fruit and yogurt with it. The meal I made came out to 9.25 points which is funny cause if I had eaten the two slices of pizza they would have been 8 points – the healthier option was more points?!? Oh the irony. I am ok with the 9.25 points though because I got dairy, protein, fruit, vegg, carbs…all kinds of goodness! Sure, the pizza had lots of veggies so that would have been something, and I s’pose the cheese could have been a serving of dairy (I am really not sure about that tho), and yeah the crust is carbs but when weighing the food I ate and the pizza I feel confident the food I ate was the healthier option, despite what the points say. I am pretty sure the pizza wouldn’t have kept me as full for as long either, so there ya go, my fresh made meal kicked the pizzas ass! lol

Here is what I ate:

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

1 toasted sandwich

    – 2 pieces bread = 2 points

    – 2 slices turkey = 0.5 points

    – 2 cheese slices = 2 points

    – 1 tbls light miracle whip = 0 points

    – 2 tomato slices = 0 points

1/4 cup mashed yam = 0.75 points

1 cup 1% milk = 2 points

3 cup kettle corn = 2 points

1 Starbucks Latte Grande = 6 points

1 grapefruit = 1 point

1/2 tbls sugar = 1 point

2 Peek Freans LifeStyle Selections shortcake cookies = 2 points

1 Werther’s Original Chocolate Crunch = 1 point

Total points used is 22.25. I was really toying with that werther’s candy, it was either be a little bit under my points or a little bit over and maybe it would have been better to be a bit under because of all those points I ate yesterday but I dunno. My logic went both ways, the first was: if I go under after a day of going so so so over it might be too much of an adjustment for my body food intake wise and it’ll mess with my metabolism cause my body won’t know what is going on, logic two is: keeping my metabolism on its toes is the way to go, having a low calorie day after a high calorie day keeps the body wondering what is going on and it can’t coast cause it is constantly adjusting.

Really, since it’s such a small difference (only 1 point for the candy) I doubt it’ll make a difference no matter which way I went but it does make me wonder which is the right choice. There is split thinking on this in the world of healthy eating. Some “experts” say no matter what eating plan you are following you should have about two higher calorie days per week cause it keeps your metabolism from plateauing. I am pretty sure you can guess what the other “experts” say…that would be the opposite of having two higher calorie days lol…as in keep every day as close to the same calorie wise so your body knows it is not gonna be starved and doesn’t start hoarding your body fat. Too bad you can’t just speak to your body and have it understand, that way you can warn it what you are going to do and it won’t freak out. Course…that would put you on the train to crazy town so maybe don’t start talking to the bod. lol.

Oh, heads up, those LifeStyle shortcake cookies I ate, holy crap they are gooooood! They are a new find – I came accross them today by chance. They are real shortcake not some health crap pretending to be shortcake, sure they are a tad small but that’s what you get when it’s 1 point for 1 cookie. I feel it is going to take me forever and a day to get through the box and I almost wish I had not discovered them until December (in my world shortcake cookies go with christmas) but like I am really complaining about finding a yummy low point cookie? Yah, right! lol.

So Way Too Much Food…ugh…

10 Oct

I don’t know how I managed to eat like this all the time, how I could stand feeling so sickly and gross. And yet, I did it often enough to get myself in this mess didn’t I?

Today was my Thanksgiving feast – I got a small Beef Taco Pizza from Panago and a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top from White Spot. Brought them both home and had myself a little (well, large) meal while watching a movie I rented. It was s’posed to be a throwback to the old days – see back in the day I would rent a couple movies, order in a pizza and have an evening of calorie laden bliss. I didn’t do it all the time but often enough to do damage to my waist line. lol. When I used to do this I would have the pizza delivered and always ordered a medium – I always figured it made better sense to order a medium and have enough left overs to last me a couple days, better use of my money. *rolls eyes* I know, I know, I think of that now and I wanna kick myself but it’s how I convinced myself back in the day it was ok to eat way too much pizza. This time I ordered a small and picked it up (saved on paying a tip teehee) but the goodness of getting a small pizza was completely out measured by the piece of pie I picked up from the restaurant. Oy. Pie slices from restaurants are crazy huge, and it was more expensive to buy one slice from there then to get an entire pie from Safeway but in this I felt the extra money was worth it, better to pay a bit more but only have one slice then to pay less and have an entire pie staring at you everytime you open the fridge door.

So I got all settled with my movie, chowed down on my pizza and ate way too much. I just kept going…it was disgusting. I should have stopped after 2 pieces but I didn’t, did I stop at 3 pieces? Nope, didn’t stop there either…4 pieces!! I ate 4 entire slices of pizza!! I might as well be rolled out the door while I can still fit and taken to a fat camp, ugh. Even as I was eating the 4th piece I was trying to figure out why I was eating it, no way I was hungry at that point but it was like something had been unchained and I couldn’t control it. sigh. When I was done the 4 slices I put the left overs in the fridge and decided the pie was gonna hafta wait cause I felt so ill there was no way I was gonna be able to eat it right then. I didn’t wait all that long to eat that pumpkin pie though, not even the entire length of the movie! I don’t know exactly how long I waited I just know the movie wasn’t over and I was eating the pumpkin pie, whipped cream an all! And do you think I left the crust behind to save myself calories? Well, if you did think that you are delusional! I ate it all. Admittedly it was yummy but double the width of a slice I would have cut for myself and way more whipped cream then what I would have topped it with. Why do restaurants do that?!

Looking back I should have put two slice of pizza on my plate and put the rest in the fridge right away. My brain has gotten used to only seeing the food I am actually going to eat so it knows it is ok to eat everything in front of me, but this, having the open pizza box, it was like my brain didn’t know when to stop. Oh, and I pulled out a large plate! The horrors! I never use those anymore, all my food is served on small plates, that way it looks like way more. I was just breaking all kinds of rules today. sigh.

It’s weird, I knew in advance I was going to eat the pizza and pie today, I convinced myself it was ok cause it was a one time treat for a holiday and blah blah blah. What a load of shit! Who cares that it is a holiday? That’s no reason to go off the deep end! All those weeks, hell, months of fighting to get my weight down and I go and eat a disgustingly huge meal in a super short amount of time which will pretty much screw my body up and confuse the hell out of it – and instead of admitting to myself I was using this holiday as an excuse to cheat big time on my “healthy eating lifestyle” I kept tricking myself in to not facing up to what I was doing. I didn’t even have the guts to be a straight shooter with myself in regards to this little (huge) step off the path to the world of thin.

I would like to say tomorrow I will be back to following all the rules and everything will be good but I am gonna be at a friends place for a good chunk of the day and have no idea what is gonna happen with food. I mean, obviously I will eat before I go, and try my best to take a snack over but if I am over there long enough that we end up getting a meal, shrug, there is only so much control I have over where we go and what options are on the menu. I will definitly be reading the salad section of the menu though!

So, I don’t have points calculated for my food yet today but here is a list, I will add points when I have them…although, I kinda don’t wanna know…

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

1 banana = 2 points

4 slices of pizza = ?

1 slice pumpkin pie with whipped cream = ?

1 can root beer = 3 points

Oh yeah, I didn’t even mention the root beer! I drank points! I never drink points! Since starting this whole thing the only liquid I take in is tea and water, oh and sometimes milk. I gave up pop but today, well, if you’re gonna be stupid might as well be stupid all at once I guess. FYI, that was the best root beer ever! I have really missed it. lol.

So off I go to calculate my pizza and pie points…I will edit this soon.

EDIT:

omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg I think I am having a bit of a panic attack, what have I done?!?! here are the points, keeping in mind they are approximations…not like that makes it any better tho…

The Pizza: the nutritional info is based on a single slice of a medium pizza, I ordered a small so my slices were smaller but I doubt they were so much smaller as to make much of a difference points wise, 1 slice = 4 points, omg, so that’s 16 points worth of pizza.

The Pumpkin Pie: I calculated the points on a slice of pumpkin pie from the nutritional info on a pie at the grocery store earlier in the week, it came to 1 slice = 6 points, crap, then add on the whipped cream which is 1 tbls = 1 point and I am in deep deep trouble, for the pie I approximated it at 10 points.

That puts me at a total of 33 points eaten for the day, 33! That is 11 flex points! ELEVEN!!!! Plus the one flex point I used yesterday, I have used 12 flex points in two days, omg. I might as well hit myself on the head with a hard blunt object for all I good I did myself today.

The only bright side I am finding here is I did get one measly piece of fruit at the beginning of the day with the banana, and I got some dairy in me with the yogurt. Plus, the pizza is topped with soooo many veggies that has to count towards my veggie count for the day. It doesn’t negate the damage I have done but at least while doing all that damage I was getting some good stuff. I am not counting the fruit/veg serving from the pumpkin pie, I am sure the healthiness was baked right out of it! lol

So what all this means is I have to be uber careful this coming week, no cheating, no little snacks here or there I shouldn’t have, no giving in to temptation at work – strict strict strict, and if I feel myself caving all I have to do is look back here and read how many points I ate in one day, one very low activity level day, that’ll keep me on track for sure!

Looooooong Weekend!

8 Oct

Long weekends have got to be one of the best things ever! I think the only thing better is when you are still in school and get summer vacation and have all those glorious months off. sigh. I guess it’s a little sad to get so excited about having an extra day off…and really, I picked up a nannying shift for saturday evening so I still only get two days off but whatever – I am looking forward to sleeping in for 3 days in a row! lol.

For all of you not living in Canada it is Thanksgiving. Gobble Gobble, happy turkey day an all that. lol. Thanksgiving isn’t really all that big a deal in my family, I mean what is it really? A holiday celebrating the fact that the Native Americans were nice enough to help the settlers learn about the local food? That’d be great if the settlers hadn’t turned around and then attempted to wipe the Native American’s off the planet. *rolls eyes* Seems like a farce to me. And there is my rant about that, lol.

In my family the thanksgiving long weekend means one thing: Pizza! Yup, that’s right, pizza! 😀 My dad would always go to visit his mom (she lived in a diff province) and my mom and us kids would order in pizza. This may sound boring but we didn’t eat pizza a lot so it was quite the treat. I wasn’t going to do anything different this weekend, well except for sleeping in on monday lol, but then I decided screw it, why shouldn’t I get to eat some kind of treat this weekend? Everybody else will be.

So on Sunday I am getting a pizza! Yup, a real pizza – not one I make (which are yummy but just not the same), not a frozen one from the store but a real, fresh, bad for me pizza. lol. I already know what I am getting, it is from Panago and it’s the Beef Taco Pizza, holy frog on a stick it is goooood! The best pizza out there! I have been looking forward to this pizza for a week now, the waiting has been hard but worth it. It’ll make the pizza that much better I think. 😀

For today I ate:

29 grams honey nut cheerios = 2 points

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1/2 cup diced peaches = 1 point

1 banana = 2 points

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

1/2 cup Maple Baked Beans = 2 points

1 piece toast = 1 point

2 triangles light laughing cow cheese = 1 point

1/2 cup mashed yam = 1.5 points

mixed raw veggies = 0 points

1 Fiesta salad = 6 points

1 piece toast = 1 point

1tsp margarine = 1 point

1 coffee crisp single = 2 points

Puts me at a grand total of 23.5 points for the day. sigh. I did it again! I don’t know what is wrong with me lately, argh. I forgot I had the piece of toast right before I ate my salad so when I was writing my dinner down to see if I had any points left I thought I had more then I really did and now I have gone over, double sigh. I hate doing that!

Oh, hmm, ok, I guess I will stop the rant I was about to start, I just took a moment to do the math and see how many flex points I used this week, it was 6 so I am ok. lol. I felt like I had used a lot more because I don’t regulate them I just use a couple here and there as I so choose. Proof right there peeps about how if you don’t keep track of what you are eating you can get a warped idea of how good or bad your food amounts and choices are. It’s so true, least for me. shrug. I would have days where I felt like I ate a lot and when I really thought about what I ate that day it’d turn out I ate hardly anything and vice versa. It’s odd isn’t it? I wonder why people (especially me) do that…

Tomorrow is weigh in day, oh, and new measurement day cause I kinda messed it up last week. lol. I wonder if going for that hike thursday will have any noticeable affect on the scale tomorrow…I know I shouldn’t expect anything since I only exercised twice and one of those times doesn’t really count, lol, but hey, a girl can hope!

Did I Really Do That?

7 Oct

I did something I totally never thought I would do – I had the idea on my way home from work and before the idea was even fully formed a different part of my brain (normally the louder part) was yelling at least 10 different reasons to not go through with the idea. What was the crazed idea? It was simply this – go for a hike after work so I get some exercise.

Crazy, right? lol. Even though I spent the whole rest of the way home justifying not going out for a quick hike I still somehow went…it’s like I don’t even know myself!

Here were my reasons to not go: (1) I am lazy (2) it looks like it is gonna rain (3) sunset comes way early now and there is a lot of overgrowth along the path so it gets dark on the path soon as the sun starts to dip down (4) I am lazy – that one deserves to be repeated (5) I didn’t have an afternoon snack so I won’t have enough energy to finish the path…there were more but you get the idea.

Here is what convinced me to go: (1) I wanted to earn exercise points to make up for the higher point lunch I had (2) the weather will be nasty soon and I won’t actually be able to use the path cause it’ll be all mud and for real too dark by the time I get home so I should use it while I can (3) for some weird reason I wanted to, I think cause I got in to a habit of exercising on tuesdays and thursdays, my body now seems to expect it…that’s it, only three pathetic reasons to go versus a whole slew of reasons to not go and what did I do? I went! *rolls eyes* logic just thrown out the window. *shakes head*

I didn’t do too badly though, better then the last time I went – course the last time I took that path I was 11.6 pounds heavier, I may not be in a shape even remotely close to being called “good” or “decent” but I can tell the difference between hiking 3.8 km at my starting weight and hiking it now. wowza.

When I was on the path, I was about mmmm, 15 minutes in maybe and I was thinking how I was doing pretty well, good form, decent speed stuff like that and then this guy comes up from behind, now instead of hollering out “left!” so I move over to the side of the path he goes off the path, leaps like a frickin gazelle over a log and some bushes then pops up on the path in front of me – all without breaking his stride or seeming at all bothered by the extra exertion. uh, hello? You just leaped in the air, like…well, what the hell leaps? um, leaping antelope? Yeah, let’s go with that! Who does that?!?! Freaky way in shape people, that’s who! I suppose if I had almost no body fat I could leap all over the place too, harumph. 😛

Today I ate:

29 grams honey nut cheerios = 2 points

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1/2 cup diced peaches = 1 point

1 nectarine = 1 point

1 Lean Cuisine Sweet n Sour chicken = 5 points

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

2 triangles light laughing cow cheese = 1 point

1 english muffin = 3 points

1 burger patty = 4 points

1 cheese slice = 1 point

1 corn on the cob = 1 point

1 tsp margarine = 1 point

1/2 cup mashed yam = 1.5 points

1 Quakers Crunch’ers = 2 points

Exercise Points Earned = 5 points

Total points eaten is 26.5 which sounds horrible but! that is my 22 daily points and 4.5 of my exercise points. 😀 So take a deep breath, it’s all good. lol.

I had to guesstimate on how many exercise points I earned today, I would call the path a moderate activity level and it took me an hour to complete but that would only give me 3 exercise points and I worked out way harder tonight then I did in the swordfighting classes and those classes got me 3 points. So I thought ok, calculate it as a strenuous activity level but that would be 9 points – no way it was worth 9 points! I decided to compromise and picked a number in between the 3 and the 9. shrug. My own kind of math. lol.

It’s weird how people say exercise gives you energy, it never does that for me. It’s like my endorphines didn’t get the memo or something. shrug. Once I got home I showered, put laundry in, ate dinner and during all that all I wanted to do was go to bed. It’s still all I want to do but I have to wait for the dryer to finish, sigh. But hey, it’s all good, the long weekend is almost here and then I can sleep all I want! 😀

Buckwheat aka Kasha

6 Oct

I got intro’d to a new food today, Z at work brought me 1/2 cup cooked buckwheat to try. Ain’t that so nice? lol She has been eating it for ages an ages apparently and we were talking food yesterday and I guess this inspired her to share some with me, yah! I have been trying to not experiment exactly but go out of my comfort zone when it comes to food. I had it in my head eating healthy consisted of boring vegetables and, well…hmm, that’s about it. lol. So I look around a bit more at the grocery store and I talk food with people I know to get ideas for things to try.

the trickster!

Today I tried the buckwheat (which is also called kasha). I do not know how it was cooked since Z cooked it but I know she said she put a bit of fish sauce on it cause that is how she eats it. 🙂 It was good – one of those grains that doesn’t really have flavour, like rice, so it picks up the flavour of whatever you put it with. I had it as a side with my fish and veggies at dinner time and tried to eat most forkfuls of it “uncontaminated” by the other foods on my plate so I could fully appreciate the kasha on its own.

I did something I never do though – I didn’t check the points before I ate it! Shocking I know! lol. 😛 I got home late and was hungry so I decided to make dinner and risk the points of the kasha, figuring it couldn’t be all that bad points wise since it’s only a half cup – I was wrong, oh so wrong!

Here is the Nutritional Info:

Serving Size: 1 cup (170 grams)

Amount Per Serving – % Daily Value*

Calories: 583

Total Fat 6g  8%

   Saturated Fat 1g  6%

*Percent Daily Values are based on a 2000 calorie diet. Your daily values may be higher or lower depending on your calorie needs

Now look at that protein and fiber, it’s frickin amazing, practically a miracle food! BUT! Look at the evil calories!! That is a lot! ugh. Luckily I only had a 1/2 cup but that is still 4.5 points, sigh. I would never eat a cup of kasha cause hello? who wants to waste 9 points on a side dish?

Z says she eats it with milk, like a porridge, and that it is super yummy and fills her up till lunch time but I think I will stick with my cereal and fruit thanks very much – that is only 4 points and fills me up just fine. 🙂

So, as a new food yah! it tasted decently good and was a pleasant side dish but will I buy and make it on my own? Nope! Too many calories for moi!

Today I ate:

29 grams honey nut cheerios = 2 points

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1/2 cup diced peaches = 1 point

1/2 cup mixed fresh fruit = 1 point

1/2 cup Maple Baked Beans = 2 points

1 piece toast = 1 point

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

Green Giant Essentials Fibre = 2 points

2 triangles light laughing cow = 1 point

1 corn on the cob = 1 point

1 tsp margarine = 1 point

1/2 cup buckwheat = 4.5 points

grilled veggies = 0 points

1 dill sauce salmon steak = 3 points

1 thinsations oreo cakesters = 2 points

Grand total of 24.5 points, shoot! 😀 I forgot I had eaten the green giant veggies at lunch so when I was tallying up at the end of the day I thought I had done ok but then I remembered those stupid veggies. Grr! I mean sure they are tasty but they come already in a sauce so it adds points – I don’t normally use sauces on my veggies thereby saving me points. Ah well, using 2.5 of my flex points isn’t gonna kill me – I just hate using them by accident, I prefer knowing I am about to use them and being prepared for the final number of points at the end of the day, ya know?

At work today there were two big temptations, sigh. First off a catered breakfast with nice yummy looking breakfast sandwiches and wraps…I had the 1/2 cup mixed fresh fruit, double sigh. lol. The sandwiches and wraps were all full of crazed bad stuff, bacon, greasy eggs, cheese…I figured it was safer to avoid it all. 😛 Then at lunch there was a meeting where we were fed which awesome right? Well, no. Cause imagine being trapped in a room that has the door closed and being surrounded by people eating pizza. Oh man, the smell almost killed me! When that meeting was over I bolted so fast to go grab my lunch from the kitchen. lol. Normally when there is a meeting over lunch I take my own lunch with me but this meeting was early, at 11:30am so I thought I’d be ok waiting till after to eat – I didn’t anticipate how the smell and visuals would affect me. Oh! And LL literally holding a piece in front of my face and offering me a bite *groan* that is some cruel torture man. *shakes head*

Don’t Even Try Saying That!

5 Oct

Any of you who say ‘cleaning isn’t or doesn’t count as exercise’ – well, all I can say to that is ‘you haven’t seen ME clean!’ Oh, and go jump in a cold lake. lol. 😀

I need a new exercise routine since my sword fighting classes ended last week; originally I was gonna hit up the community centre gym tuesdays and thursdays for eleven visits (I have an eleven drop in pass) but decided to do something a little different. I cleaned. Not just simple dusting but deep cleaning, the type of cleaning that would make a maid proud. lol. Today I chose the bathroom. Exciting huh? 😛

The only things I didn’t clean were the walls and the door and the only reason I didn’t clean those was cause I was running out of time before the Biggest Loser started and I didn’t want to miss any – oh and I still hadn’t had dinner at that point and was getting quite hungry. The things that drive me – tv and food! lol. The walls and door not being cleaned is kinda bugging me so I will probably take care of that on the weekend, not like it’ll take long.

Now, not only did I clean but I made an effort to use motions that could count as exercise, for an example, when I was scrubbing the shower walls I did squats while moving from the top to the bottom of the wall – does that make sense cause when I re-read that it sounded weird. lol. I made sure to stretch up then bend over – like in yoga poses, um, what else did I do…I can’t think of other motions to describe but I am sure you get the idea. 🙂

Now my bathroom is shiny and clean and my muscles actually hurt! Because I didn’t sweat I didn’t really consider the effort I put in all that much exercise but about 20 minutes after I was done cleaning when I was making dinner I realized my leg muscles were sore – the way they are after “real” exercise. Sweet huh? Now I am not saying clean instead of exercise, this is not a permanent way to swap out official exercise it was more of a ‘I am not quite ready to go to a gym and my bathroom was dirty’ type of thing but I think for today it was good. Wonder what I will do thursday? Oooooh, the suspense! lol. 😀

Today I ate:

29 grams honey nut cheerios = 2 points

1/2 cup diced peaches = 1 point

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1 banana = 2 points

1 sandwich

    – 2 pieces bread = 2 points

    – 4 slices turkey = 1 point

    – 1 cheese slice = 1 point

    – 1 tbls light miracle whip = 1 point

    – tomato slices, lettuce, mustard = 0 points

2 triangles light laughing cow cheese = 1 point

1/2 cup cottage cheese = 2 points

raw veggies = 0 points

85 grams whole wheat pasta = 5 points

1/2 cup Primo pasta sauce = 1 point

1/2 pckg Green Giant Essentials Fibre = 2 points

1 Slim Fast Optima whole grain muffin bar chocolate chip = 3 points

Exercise Points earned = 3 points

So I ate 25 points – that’s my 22 daily points and 3 exercise points and whaddya know I earned 3 exercise points, such a coincidence! lol.

Now you may be wondering what in the world I am doing eating pasta every day for how many days in a row now? No, I am not uber excited about the pasta with tomato sauce dish, in fact I hate tomato based sauces, lol, it’s just that they are a lot lower in points then the cream sauces I prefer – shocking I know! But I still have some of the jar left and no room to put it in my freezer so instead of not eating the sauce and then throwing it out cause I can’t tell if it went bad or not I am determined to eat it until it is finished. Hence my repeated pasta meal. ugh.

Oh, and no I don’t make it a habit of eating Slim Fast bars, I had it left in my cupboard from who knows how long ago and it seemed a better option for eating my exercise points then three points of pure chocolate. 😛 It was a tad stale but otherwise ok so I s’pose as a snack (if it was fresh) it wouldn’t be a horrible idea…it has 140 calories, 6 grams fat and 2 grams fibre. It was a decent size so worth the three points if you’re like me and sometimes have to find a way to use up those last 2-3 points in the evening. 🙂

My Pants Have Died

4 Oct

A couple weeks ago I had to stop wearing one of my work pants – they just became so big I couldn’t wear then anymore, while I am sad to lose a pair of pants cause I don’t have all that many in the first place I did quite the happy dance when I was able to take those pants off without undoing them. lol. 😀

Well, even better…I was able to take off a different pair of pants saturday without undoing them. 😀 wOOt! I am slowly but surely losing my wardrobe…those pants are dead to me! mwahahahahahaha

It’s kinda too bad cause the pants that became officially too big this past saturday were a pair of my favourite pants, lol, figures right? They were brown cords with some detailing on the back pockets and a slightly distressed look around the front and back pockets. I was grocery shopping and they were literally falling off my hips/ass. Awesome!!

I was going to go digging through my closet this past sunday and retry a bunch of my clothes on, see if there is anything else I can get in to or better yet something I haven’t been able to wear in a loooong time that now fits, or is at least closer to fitting but I decided to wait. In total I have lost 11.6 lbs which YAH!! But I decided to wait to retry all my clothes on until I have lost 15 lbs – it will be my reward/treat to me for reaching a kick ass number.

I have been trying to not give myself treats for losing weight – if I associate losing weight with me getting something I want then what happens when I have lost all the weight I want to lose (man, I hope that actually happens!) and I no longer have a reason to treat myself? So instead of going out and buying a new pair of pants when I have lost 15 lbs I will go through my closet and see if something I already own I can now wear. It’s like a treat but not…least in my head…lol

I think if I do buy something at some point it will be a mirror, a full length mirror. The only mirror I have is the one in the bathroom and it only shows me down to my upper thigh. This hasn’t bothered me all that much since I moved in here cause I don’t think I look good Ev-Er! and I don’t like looking at myself but I think at some point I may not mind seeing myself in a mirror quite so much…I don’t know that that time is coming up right away – after all, there is a full length mirror in the bathroom at work that hates me and makes me look oh so fat, ugh, I hate that mirror. That mirror makes me never want to look at myself in a mirror again! But eventually, when my self-esteem and my wallet are in cahoots I will treck off to Winners and get me a snazzy full length mirror for my room – just like a normal person! lol. 😛

Today I ate:

29 grams honey nut cheerios = 2 points

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1 banana = 2 points

1 nectarine = 1 point

1/2 cup Maple Baked Beans = 2 points

1 piece toast = 1 point

2 triangles light laughing cow cheese = 1 point

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

salad = 0 points

1 tbls three cheese ranch dressing = 1 point

raw mixed veggies = 0 points

85 grams whole wheat pasta = 5 points

1/2 cup Primo Thick n Zesty sauce = 1 point

mixed veggies cooked = 0 points

1 corn on the cob = 1 point

1 tsp margarine = 1 point

That puts me at 21 points for the day. I am going to eat my Soft Pumpkin cookie that I saved for my evening treat in just a little bit. It’ll put me over in to flex points because the cookie is 3 points but that is ok because the potluck at work got moved from this wednesday to next wednesday so I don’t have to save all my flex points for wednesday anymore. This doesn’t mean I am gonna go crazy with them or anything but it does mean I get a cookie! teehee

Lately I have realized I am not eating as many veggie servings as I had been in the past and that’s no good! So with dinner I cooked up some mixed frozen veg then put it in the tomato sauce so when I topped the pasta it was with a veggie filled tomato sauce. It was good, the flavour of the veggies totally made up for me not putting the parmesan cheese on tonight – I didn’t put the cheese on cause I wanted the corn on the cob (and margarine to top it with) more – there’s a lot of give an take with weight watchers. Like, ok you can have the cookie but that means you can’t have as large a dinner as you are used to so you may be hungry by the end of the day – stuff like that. Oh, btw, that did not happen today, my dinner was plenty big and tasty and filling and I still get my cookie but that’s cause I learned how to work the system. lol.

Pumpkin Time Has Arrived

3 Oct

I love baking, I don’t generally eat anything that I bake but I love to do the actual baking. 🙂 People always make jokes about what did I put in the baking that I won’t eat it but it’s just that I think baking tastes better if someone else makes it.

October is imo the best month to make things with pumpkin. I know you can make stuff year round with pumpkin thanks to the wonders of canned pumpkin but I like making pumpkin foods only in October, it makes them more of a treat and less of a blah kind of thing, ya know?

So today I made Soft Pumpkin Cookes, yum! One of the few things I bake and actually like to eat. 🙂 I made them to take to work cause I am getting grief for not bringing in baking as much anymore. I used to take something in once a week or so but that dropped off cause I just didn’t feel like it after a while. shrug. When it became expected I no longer wanted to do it. lol. I am ornery like that! 😛 And really, I shouldn’t have made them this week cause this wednesday, least I think it’s this wednesday, we are having a work potluck and I am bringing in Pumpkin Pie Tarts. Possibly too much pumpkin baking in one week…ah well, it’s done now. lol. Oh, and lemme tell ya, the apartment smells sooooo yummy right now! Mmm!

My first meal of the day today was a late lunch and I was psyched for it, I had a nice big meal planned that would be tasty and that would use a bunch of points, well joke was on me! It was yummy but it only used 8 points, oy! It was a big freshly made turkey sandwich and a bowl of soup. I am not sure why I thought this would be so many points, I think because it is so much food at one time, and really 8 points is a lot of points for one meal but when it’s your first meal of the day and it’s almost 3pm 8 points is not all that bad. heh

So I ate:

1/2 cup Red Pepper Black Bean soup = 1 point

1 turkey sandwich

    – 2 pieces bread = 2 points

    – 1 tbls light miracle whip = 1 point

    – 4 slices turkey = 1 point

    – mustard, lettuce = 0 points

    – 1 cheese slice = 1 point

1 cup 1% milk = 2 points

1 Three Musketeers Single = 2 points

85 grams whole wheat pasta = 5 points

1/2 cup Primo Thick n Zesty Tomato sauce =1 point

2 tbls kraft parmesan cheese = 1 point

1 piece bread = 1 point

1 tsp margarine = 1 point

1 pumpkin cookie = 3 points

Total points used 22. 🙂

I am so freakin tempted to have another cookie but I am not sure if I am going to indulge. I know I have a whole week of flex points open to me but I don’t know that I want to use any today. That potluck I mentioned earlier is (I am almost positive) wednesday and that will use (possibly!) a bunch of points so I want to save them for that day but man, those cookies smell and look good. lol. I just gotta think about wednesday and all the yummy goodness that will be happenin then and use that to help me resist the cookies tonight.

I think though I will save one for myself to have tomorrow for my evening treat after dinner…yeah, I think that’s a good compromise. teehee 😀

I Made a Boo-Boo

3 Oct

So, a couple weeks ago I was at M&M’s Meat Shop and bought a BBQ Beef Bowl – never buy this!!! Normally the food I get from there is amazing, it’s cheap, healthy and tastes really good BUT this dish was just not worth it. sigh.

First off, one thing that isn’t the companies fault is I shouldn’t have bought it. It was a mistake, sigh. I didn’t have my slider with me so I couldn’t calculate the points for the bowl and even if I did there were a lot of people in the store so I wouldn’t have been able to take the time to calculate. Hmmm, if you haven’t been in a M&M’s you won’t understand that…k, they are all designed the same way, the majority of the food is kept behind a long counter so you start at one end of the counter and tell a worker what you want then you move up the length of the counter and by the time you get to the cashier all your food is in a pile in front of you. Thing is you need to tell the worker what you want in a fairly quick manner otherwise other customers snag her (the worker) and you get to the till without all your food and have to hold up the line while someone gets the rest of the food you want. So, there were a lot of people and I didn’t want to hold up the line and I didn’t have my slider – I figured I’d take a chance and buy the bowl cause it sounded freakin good and there is a Lean Cuisine beef thing that sounded similar that isn’t bad points wise.

Well, BAD MOVE!! The stupid thing is 11 points! ELEVEN!!! In one dish???? Insane! I almost took it to work for lunch friday but luckily thursday night I checked it for points and almost fell over. Eesh. That is half my daily points! It immediatly became a dish I would only be able to eat on weekends since I sleep in and have less time to use all my points.

I decided to eat it today cause I slept in and figured I might as well eat it  and get it out of the freezer. lol. It was not worth the points! The BBQ flavour was awesome, I love all things BBQ, Mmm, but the beef wasn’t good and it was not a large enough portion to be worth the points. Also, the veggies that were in it were not all that good, it was green peas and kernel corn and the peas tasted funny, the corn was fine – in my opinion you can’t go wrong with corn, but it was over shadowed by all the other stuff in the bowl so I couldn’t taste it. Oh, and the white rice was ho-hum.

I would say if you are gonna choose a frozen dinner of the BBQ beef or ginger beef variety go with the Lean Cuisine one over the M&M one. As much as I prefer BBQ flavour the rest of the bowl just wasn’t worth it – I’d rather go buy BBQ sauce and some beef and make it myself. Or some variation of it anyways lol.

On a happy note today: I Lost 1.6 Pounds this week!! 😀 😀 😀

It was the funniest weigh in, I checked what my weight was last week so I knew what number I wanted to be below, I stepped on the scale saw the number and shrugged in a “figures” kind of way, for some reason I thought the number was 1.6 higher then last week! Yeah, I don’t know why I thought that…shrug. So I was writing the number down and realized it was lower then last weeks number and hopped back on the scale to confirm. lol. This past week I was feeling heavier cause of how a pair of my work pants were fitting. They were snug, not snug they were uncomfie but snug ‘oh my god, I gained weight back and they don’t fit as well anymore’. It’s been making me feel bad since wednesday (the day I wore them) and wondering what I did wrong. I was getting pissed I ate my exercise points and some of my flex points and I was vowing to not eat them this coming week and what happens? My impression of my weight loss is apparently skewed and eating those extra points helped me not plateau this week. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

Oh, and I also measured myself today…I will talk about that oh-so-wonderful experience tomorrow cause this post is already getting huge, er, gotten huge. lol.

I ate today:

1 M&M’s Meat Shop BBQ Beef Bowl = 11 points

2 bread ends = 1 point

1 tsp margarine = 1 point

1/2 tbls light peanut butter = 1 point

1 peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwich

    – 2 pieces bread = 2 points

    – 1 tbls light peanut butter = 2 points

    – 1 tbls raspberry jam = 1 point

1/2 banana = 1 point

1 Quaker Crunch’ers = 2 points

A perfect 22 points. 🙂

I was nannying this afternoon/evening which is why I had a sandwich for dinner, it was the easiest thing I could pack up and take. You never know if the parents are gonna let you put stuff in the fridge or eat their food so it’s safer to take something you made that doesn’t need a fridge. lol.

Eating that bowl from M&M’s has left me hungry but it’s the end of the day so I am not gonna eat anything else, it is my self-imposed punishment for making such a stupid mistake in buying something so high in points. lol. But tomorrow will be better…no stupid high pointed foods in my freezer anymore. 🙂

Evil Evil Temptation

1 Oct

I felt like I needed the blinders today!

All I wanted to do today was eat, and nothing healthy, all I wanted was junk food. I had to go out on an errand during work hours to get a bus pass and every food item I saw in the little store was calling my name. I swear! In a low creepy sing song voice it called to  me – ‘you want me, you know you want me, I won’t hurt you, you know you’ll love me, I’m so tasty, Mmm’  Cookies, chocolate bars, snack bags, harsh.

As if that wasn’t bad enough it was cake day at work. It’s weird, the last two cake days (they happen at the end of every month) I have had no probem resisting the cake, sure they look good but I knew a piece wouldn’t be worth it and shrugged it off. Lemme tell ya, this month was NOT like that! I kept staring at the stupid cakes, they were in the lunch room so couldn’t really avoid them, and to make it worse two of the people I was eating lunch with ate cake right in front of me and kept offering me some. *groan* Here’s some of the things said  to me today “don’t you want a piece? it’s really good, you should get a piece. we could share one, how ’bout the cookie n cream cheesecake? omg, the strawberry shortcake is so light!’ Double harsh!

There were three kinds: the above mentioned cookies n cream cheesecake, strawberry shortcake and double chocolate ganache. It’s like the trifecta of food tempation!

These cakes popping up on a day where all I want to do is eat and I don’t have much food with me cause I ran out of groceries before the end of the week is not good – did I do something bad and now karma is getting even? I dunno, *shakes head sadly* but something was definitly working against me today.

Get this, the only way I managed to not grab a piece of cake was cause I have gotten this rep at work as being the one person who is able to resist all bad food, people there talk about how I have such amazing willpower, blarg. Talk about painting myself in to a frickin corner. 😛 I couldn’t eat even a bite of any of those cakes at work cause people would see me cheating and when it was suggested I bring some of it home I said no. sigh. Somehow my willpower kicked in that way at least, lol, I kept thinking how it’d be easy to bring a piece (or three!) home and indulge this evening and no one would ever know I did it but I just couldn’t do it. I kept thinking how all that sugar and fat would still be in me when I went to weigh in tomorrow and that just wouldn’t do. *rolls eyes*

So I managed to resist the evil tempations today by (1) not wanting to ruin my rep at work  – man, I’m so vain lol and (2) not wanting to cry on the scale tomorrow. Maybe not the best tools to use to not cheat but hey, I use what I have!

Today I ate:

29 grams honey nut cheerios = 2 points

1/2 cup 1% milk = 1 point

1 banana = 2 points

1 apple = 1 point

1 tuna sandwich = 4 points

2 triangles light laughing cow = 1 point

mixed raw veggies = 0 points

1 cup red pepper black bean soup = 2 points

85 grams whole wheat spagetti = 5 points

1/2 cup Primo Thick & Zesty Romano Cheese & Basil Sauce = 1 point

2 tbsp Kraft Parmesan cheese = 1 point

1 thinsations Oreo cakesters = 2 points

I used all of my 22 points. 🙂 I know I could have had some flex points, and I was really tempted cause I was wanting to eat more food, buuuuut I decided not to because of how much I wanted to. Does that make sense? Probably not…it’s like this. If I really want something that has the potential to be bad (food, alcohol, expensive shoes…) I say No! because if I give in even once when I really want something then the next time will be even harder to say no. Hopefully that makes sense cause I can’t think of any other way to explain. lol.

So now I am off to bed where hopefully I will not dream of scales and measuring tapes – after all, I have to face the scary reality of them tomorrow…*shudder*
