Day 3 and 4

23 Dec

I was too busy to write yesterday, sorry!

Today’s post is about Day 3 and Day 4 of the 12 Days of Fitness.

Are you still on track? I sort of am…kind of…maybe?

Yesterday was more of a weight workout type of day vs a cardio workout, which is what I tend to do.

My brother came over to my parent’s place when they were out (I am staying here for a bit over Christmas) and we put up a bunch of art work for my parents. This may not sound like a workout but it was multiple, heavy framed, pieces of art, most of which got put up on high or hard to reach areas. This meant that while my brother did the math for where to place the hooks so each piece was displayed to the best it could be, I was the one holding the artwork up so he could look at it. I was also running up and downstairs grabbing things, moving all over the house while helping with the whole decorate-the-house project and basically just moving a lot…while carrying heavy stuff…I feel that should count.

Do you think it counts?

I dunno…maybe I am fooling myself. I remember at the time of doing all that work thinking “damn, this is harder than expected, this definitely counts as my workout today” but now, looking back, I am of course, doubting myself. *rolls eyes*

For now, let’s assume it counts. Ok?

For today, Day 4, it is my birthday! Yay birthdays! πŸ˜€

birthday

I have a little tradition for my birthday. I got to WEM, I shop the sales, I enjoy the teeny tiny 5% sales tax that this wonderful province has, I meet up with a friend and we either go for a meal and then a movie or just one of those, or something else completely, and then I make sure I am home in time for a family dinner where the menu was of my choosing.

Oh, I also let myself sleep in a little because if you can’t sleep in on your birthday then when can ya? πŸ˜‰

I thought to use my walking of the mall as my exercise, which may sound stupid, but that really was the plan! It is a big mall and the stores I wanted to visit are not all that near each other soooooo I figured walk as fast as the crowds will allow from one store to another and get a bit of exercise in. The crowds weren’t that bad, but the line to buy things in some of the stores were unfortunately long and slow, which kinda messed with my plan by (1) making me not able to visit every store on my list and (2) not giving me as much walking time as I expected. The bonus though was that because I was now more time constricted I was walking even faster than I had planned, so maybe that helps to balance things out?

Look! At WEM even the penguins go mall walking! And if it counts as exercise for penguins it should count for people as well, don’t cha think? πŸ˜‰

Again, I don’t really know if it counts. After dinner and dessert and time with the family I intended to go downstairs, dragging my laptop behind me, and workout to either one of my dvds or a workout video from YouTube but I am just toooooo tired! All I want to do is have a cup of tea, a shower, and crawl in to bed, which is exactly what I am going to do, because really, when you want to pamper yourself what better day than on your birthday?

Detecting a bit of a birthday theme here? πŸ˜‰ lol

I think I am going to count both days as complying with the rules of the challenge. After all, the rules didn’t specify certain exercises must be done, just that you had to be consciously active and both days I was. Admittedly, with odd activities, but still, I was active! Plus, both days I worked up a bit of a sweat and I definitely felt strain in my arm and shoulder muscles when holding the framed pictures up high for extended periods of time.

So yeah, ok then, while writing this I have decided that both days count. So there! πŸ˜‰

Tomorrow I may do a more traditional workout though, just to get a bit more on track…maybe…

Junior Snowmaggedon

9 Dec

Snowmaggedon didn’t quite happen. Did we get snow? Sure. Was it at levels that made functioning outside of a person’s home almost impossible? Nope! The more important question, was it pretty? So freakin gorgeous! I once again took a stupid amount of pictures of snow. SNOW! *rolls eyes*

When I left for work it was big fat flakes falling, I was grinning like a fool the entire time I was getting snow off the suv aaaaand while I was driving to work. Snow like that gives tires great traction so the driving was a breeze…well, for me. Some people appeared to be having trouble but it seemed like most people remembered the horror that was last Monday and were taking extra care with their speed and such.

It continued to snow for pretty much all of my work shift, at some point it turned in to more of a slushy snow instead of the pretty stuff which is unfortunate but oh well, had to happen at some point I suppose. shrug.

By the time work was over it was raining and everything was melting, sadness. If temps get to freezing over night tomorrow will be interesting, what with every surface being like an ice rink but that’s a problem for another day.

When I got home from work it was about 9:45p and I reeeeally wanted to go for a walk but most of the sidewalks were not cleared and I had no desire to be picking my way across uneven terrain so instead I grabbed a shovel and started shoveling.

Get this…I really enjoyed myself!

Shoveling the snow turned in to a multi-tasking dream lol

(1) I am counting it as my exercise for the day – hey don’t judge, I’m lazy and have to count whatever I can!

(2) I not only did the path and sidewalk for the place I live in but also for the neighbour and then for the house beyond the neighbours so that’s my good deed for the day

(3) I made tomorrow’s shoveling easier by clearing what had already built up today

I maaaay not have done my poor back / shoulders / neck much good since they are still hurting from this past Monday’s car accident but I’d like to think it is better to be at least partially active so the muscles don’t all seize up and become unhappy with all movement then to be lazy and doing nothing. Besides, shoveling snow can be quite soothing, especially when no one else is out; it is so quiet, so pretty, so zen like.

All of that is only here fyi, in any other part of the country I’d be shoveling snow in bitterly freezing temperatures and I’d be complaining louder than anybody else out there. Here though, it was pleasant out, didn’t even need to bundle up. πŸ™‚

Don’t mind all the pictures of trees, I just really like trees covered in snow. πŸ™‚

12 Days of Christmas Fitness Challenge

7 Dec

Tis the month to gain ridiculous amounts of weight super fast if not careful! With so many social gatherings, and treats, and just general feelings of wanting to eat alllll the food this month it can be easy to wake up January 1st and realize your jeans aren’t fitting quite as well anymore.

I so don’t want that to happen to me!

Yes I know that being healthy is 80% what you eat and only 20% exercise but let’s be real here people, there will be food aplenty all over the place and I am sure I will end up eating more than planned.

So the idea is to help minimize some of the food damage I will end up doing by ensuring I stay active this month.

Here is the plan…

12-days-of-xmas

The challenge begins December 20th and goes to December 31st. You don’t have to be out there running marathons, or making massive gains at the gym, I’m not looking for crazy changes in fitness activity. All I’m looking for is fitting exercise in to the daily routine over those days when so many of us skip exercising.

Just because there are a million and one things to do over the season doesn’t mean we should stop finding time each day to take care of ourselves. How else do you expect to enter 2017 feeling your best if you load up on food in this last month and don’t at least try to burn some of it off?

Some ideas for exercise could be:

  • a walk around the block
  • mall walking if you are somewhere cold
  • during the commercials do some squats, or sit-ups, or planks, or push-ups, or whatever you are able to do
  • take the stairs instead of elevators
  • park far away from the doors of the places you are going
  • snowball fight! build a snow fort! basically anything with snow!
  • pop in an exercise dvd
  • play tag with your kids, or nieces and nephews, or your friend’s kids

You get the idea!

So who is with me? Who is willing to try reeeeally hard to make the time everyday, for 12 days, over the busiest time of the year, to be good to ourselves and fit some exercise in to our days?

C’mon, you know you want to!

Sky Zone

6 Oct

I was going to write this for a Try It Tuesday post but well, it is no longer Tuesday, not even close! Oops!

A couple of Tuesdays ago a friend and I went to Sky Zone which is a trampoline place in Surrey, BC.

2016-09-27-20-20-12

Here is their website…

http://www.skyzone.com/ca/surrey

They have a one hour fitness class that we tried out, they claim you can burn 1000 calories per workout.Β I gotta say, I think that is a tad bit of an exaggeration, but it was fun so really, who cares, right?

I was nervous at the beginning because I worried my bad knee would not be able to handle jumping on a trampoline, it isn’t good with activities that involve quick changes and a lot of stabilizing but it didn’t pop out of joint and I eventually got used to the jumping and had fun.

By the time you are done the class walking on solid ground feels funny, like when you get off a boat and have sea legs. πŸ˜›

When you get there you have to sign-in at a computer terminal, you answer a bunch of questions, nothing too interesting. Then you get to the counter and you fill in a paper form, more legal stuff, shrug. They ask your shoe size because you have to wear special socks when on the trampolines, they are a lovely bright orange with grip bottoms. You’re given a large sticker you have to attach to somewhere on your body so that employees can easily see it and then you’re let loose.

2016-09-27-20-15-47

My stylish socks

Because we were signed up for a specific class we were told which trampoline area to go to. There were two other people there for the class and one instructor. The instructor was nice but it wasn’t as organized or as fluid as a normal exercise class. By that I mean she kept forgetting what she should be having us do next so there were pauses as she tried to figure it out and she seemed hesitant to suggest certain activities and a couple times she mentioned she hasn’t taught the class in a while and couldn’t remember what to do.

If I was treating this class as a serious workout I would be upset that the instructor wasn’t more prepared but since I went to have fun and the workout was a happy by-product of having fun it didn’t bother me too much.

If it is your first class it is $6, after that it is $12, plus the $3 for the socks and the $1.50 for parking. All in all not a bad amount of money.

Sky Zone is a bit too far of a distance from me to become a regular work-out place but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t go again. Just means it would be more of a random, get a bunch of friends together and go bounce around for a while type of thing vs a weekly exercise class.

2016-09-27-20-12-20

Don’t mind me as I lounge here oh so gracefully…

Oh and fyi, if you wear a Fitbit be warned, Fitbit doesn’t recognize jumping as exercise so my activity level for the evening kinda sucked because apparently jumping up and down for an hour equates to nothing in the land of Fitbit. sigh. Does a workout count if Fitbit doesn’t track it? Something to ponder…

Glucosamine – The Pill Of Almost Death

25 May

Ever try to swallow a pill and it just won’t go down your throat so you keep trying but with every new swig of water the pill starts to disintegrate a tad bit more and taste worse and worse but finally you swallow it but it feels like it is stuck in your throat so you try to swallow more water and you have a brief moment of panic when you realize the only one around you if you fall to the floor choking on the stupid pill is the cat and he won’t exactly call for help so by the time someone finds your body the cat will have nibbled on it and you’re in your pj’s, not an outfit you want to die in, and you haven’t done dishes in two days or vacuumed in longer and this is not the state you want your apartment to be in when someone discovers your body so you swear if only this pill will go down and you don’t die you will do a full apartment cleaning and then poof, the pill goes down, imminent death is no longer imminent and all of a sudden you find lots of reasons to not clean the apartment and instead you make a cup of tea and start blogging about how you almost died while trying to be more healthy?

No? Just me then? Alright.

choking

A friend told me about Glucosamine, it is supposed to help with joint pain. I can’t say for sure that it works because I keep having issues with the swallowing of the pills, sigh. A couple of times the pill has ended up in the garbage cause getting it down to my tummy just isn’t happenin. Other times it goes down fine. Then there are the times I think I am going to choke to death and I curse my living alone status.

2016-05-15 17.17.38

I have to take it three times a day for a month before noticing it working…I figure with the decreased amount of pills I am managing to swallow a day it’ll probably take me around two months or so to notice anything.

I’ll let ya know if they work! πŸ™‚

Another New Plan

9 May

I feel like I am always coming up with new plans that never work out. New plans to eat healthier, work out more, lose weight, get stronger, blah blah blah.

I know I am not alone with this, this random stage where ideas are hatched, plans are formed and possibly even followed through for a while but then discarded for all sorts of “reasons” only to leave room for regret because follow through was once again not your thing. I read other peoples’ blogs, I’ve read this story many times over. And each time I feel for that person, because it is a sucky stage. Every time I start the cycle over again, and then fail, I get more demoralized and convinced I will never lose this weight…I’m pretty sure others feel the same.

Plus, it must be super boring to come here to see what I wrote about only to read about yet another Great Plan but a couple weeks later realize I haven’t commented on my new Great Plan in a while.

I firmly believe to be successful at any weight loss plan you have to hit your breaking point, or as a friend calls it, have your “a-ha!” moment. I had that back when I initially lost all my weight but this time around, with all these different plans, and ideas, and attempts I hadn’t had it. I don’t know why I hadn’t had it, it’s not like I didn’t want to succeed, shrug, but for whatever reason it just hadn’t happened.

Yesterday though, it happened.

Gotta say, it was pretty awesome. πŸ™‚

I’d been toying with actually signing up for Weight Watchers, starting next month, cause I can’t afford it this month, if only to get me started. But for some reason that idea wasn’t inspiring me.

I toyed with trying to find the money to get a personal trainer for however many sessions to get me in to a routine and force me to be less lazy. But the cost of a trainer didn’t appeal to me and again, something about it didn’t feel right.

Then out of nowhere I thought about the old meal plan I used to follow, the high protein, high healthy fat, low carb meal plan combined with daily exercise. It was hard core, hard to maintain even when I was super dedicated, and kind of miserable at times because I was eating almost the exact same thing every day. Plus, the plan has you tracking your micro-nutrients and the amount of carbs I was allowed was soooooo low and I love carbs soooooo much, it was kinda sucky at times lol.

But…it worked!

When I started that plan I had already lost over 30 pounds, I was trying to get that last 5-10 pounds and tighten up. This means I was already in the mind set of watching what I ate, and working out often, and was used to following a healthy life routine. Plus, I was starting all that exercise when I was in better shape than I am now so while it was a challenge it was do-able.

This time I am starting farther away from my goal and I am trying to be realistic about what I can handle so I don’t end up quitting.

I don’t want to eat the exact same foods, in the same order, 7 days a week. I don’t want to never splurge. I don’t want to order salad with no dressing topped with a grilled chicken breast every single time I eat out because that is the only “safe” meal I can find on a menu.

I know to hit my goal I will need to make sacrifices and I am ok with that. I won’t get where I want to be without stopping habits I have formed and routinely doing things I haven’t been doing.

But I can’t just half-ass this. I need a plan, a detailed, written out plan that I can refer back to when my brain blanks on day 2 and I can’t remember what the hell I am supposed to be doing for breakfast lol

So I wrote down all the foods I ate on that plan, then I tweaked a bit. Instead of only eating chicken and tuna for my protein I added lean beef burger patties, fish steaks, hard boiled eggs, maybe quinoa (I’m currently researching to decide if the protein I’ll get from quinoa is worth the carbs).

I decided that I’d be allowed 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of dressing on my salads. I might even let myself have cheese every now and then…crazy huh? πŸ˜‰

Then, after thinking of little tweaks I wrote down what I will eat and where (at work or at home) on the different days of the week. This might seem strange but I did it because three days of the week I have no structure decided by work. Two days of the week I work 3p-9p and 2 days of the week I work 7a-3p. When I started this job the transition to my odd work schedule threw me off, because this meal plan was not only food specific but very structured for how far apart the different meals were eaten and where in the day you exercised in relation to your meals. I couldn’t make every day the same anymore and I quickly spiraled in to not following a plan because I couldn’t follow my plan perfectly.

I’m hoping by being a bit more relaxed with the timing, and being willing to switch things up a bit, I can make it work.

For instance, I am supposed to start my day with 1/2 an apple and a simple protein shake. Then a half hour to 45 minutes later have one egg, 2 slices of turkey bacon and the other half of the apple. Well sure, that is fine on my days off and my days where I start work at 3pm but the days I work at 7am? Uh yeah, not gonna happen. So, the days I start at 7am I will have 1/2 cup of oatmeal for breakfast when I am at work.

Does it follow the rules of the plan exactly? No. Is it something I can actually do, that is relatively healthy, and maintainable? Yup.

I have to be ok with these little changes. And sure, maybe I’ll get more hard core as I really get in to things and revert back to how it was last time I followed this plan but I have to ease in to that level of dedication, re-drink the kool-aid so to speak lol

keep-calm-and-drink-the-kool-aid-8

I am so psyched to start this new plan but I won’t be following it properly until Saturday because I have to wait for Friday to be able to buy groceries so until then I will make do with what foods I already have. I can increase my protein since I already have protein rich foods. I can work on the timing of my meals, so I get used to that structure again. I can start to cut out unnecessary carbs (sadness 😦 ) and I’ve already got my grocery list written and ready to be filled.

Maybe this lull before I can start this plan full time is a good thing, it will allow me to prep and plan and psych myself up even more. πŸ™‚

meal plan

This is an example of my meal plans for the different types of days I have. It isn’t exact or set in stone. The proteins can be swapped out and moved from one day to the next. For ease of making the document I put in mostly chicken but I have another page written up with other meal ideas that are high protein, low carb, high healthy fat. Plus, I’ll have to work on the timing, figure out where my exercise fits in to each day and maneuver some meals around that – my large protein shake for instance will best benefit me if I have it after I exercise. So I will probably end up moving that to when I am home after my 3p-9p shift because I tend to work out after that shift rather than prior. But it is a framework for me to move within, which is what I know I need to succeed.

So ok, sorry to bore you with the food portion of my “Great Plan”. But writing this and putting it out in to the world helps me, it helps me stay committed to the plan (theoretically) and helps me believe I can make it work.

I feel I should warn you my next post will probably be about the exercising portion of my new plan, especially since I’ve already started the workouts lol

First Time This Year

3 Apr

Get your mind out of the gutter – not thaaaaat kind of “first time”! lol

I’m talking about my first hike of the year…or I guess I could word that as first hike of the season…either is accurate, shrug.

A friend and I went for a walk last Friday before I went to work and decided we enjoyed it so much that we made plans to go for a walk / hike Sunday afternoon when I was off work. I oh so responsibly packed a bag the night before (cause nooooo way would I remember at 5am to pack a bag with hiking appropriate clothes in it) and once I was at work texted her asking if she wanted to come walk the trails near my work or go to the trails near her or if we should go somewhere completely different. I had to be sneaky because we have an unfortunate habit of saying we are going to go for a walk or a hike or to a fitness class or whatever and instead we either (1) cancel completely or (2) go for tea and sit and gab.

Yup, we are enablers of each others laziness.

So I figured if I worded the text to her today as if I assumed we were still going it’d be harder for her to bail.

Turns out I was wrong. lol She wrote back saying she was way behind for the stuff she had to do today because of things happening in her townhouse complex (loooong complicated story that and not really essential to my story, which is of course the important one πŸ˜‰ ) and basically she couldn’t make it.

I, in a non-bitchy way, said no worries but since I’d brought my change of clothes with me I was still gonna go. At this point I still had some energy left so I meant it when I said it.

Well, by the end of my work day I was tired and had almost completely decided to not go for a walk or a hike and instead go home. Before I could though my friend calls, turns out by my saying I was still going to go it got her thinking that she really should find time in her day to do something active and good for her so she once again decided to join me.

I couldn’t very well tell her that I’d decided to bail *rolls eyes*…and that is how we ended up here…

2016-04-03 17.00.062016-04-03 17.00.122016-04-03 17.00.462016-04-03 16.54.54

The shots of the water were all taken from the suspension bridge. If it wasn’t for other people being there I could easily stand on that bridge for hours watching and listening to the water.

As for the hollow trunk picture, I thought it’d be fun but in actually I look like I have no neck lol silly shadows. πŸ˜› And before anyone who is thinking about my eyes freaks out (which really that would only be my mom) I only took my sunglasses off for the picture, otherwise they are always on when I am outside – I am following all my eye care rules, honest! πŸ™‚

January Fitness Challenge

3 Jan

You may or may not recall that in December I made up a 20 day fitness challenge, 20 Workouts in 20 Days…

I decided to make a new fitness challenge for January, to help keep us all motivated, well, ok, mostly to try to get me motivated lol I got super lazy over the holidays, and combining super lazy with eating ridiculous amounts of food, lets just say I am not so comfy in my body right now. Ugh.

I decided to makeΒ it a bit more do-able of a challenge, since most people I told the December one to thought it wasn’t achievable so instead of another 20 Workouts in 20 Days (which personally I thought was catchy lol) it is…

20 Workouts in 30 Days!

Ok, so not as catchy, but maybe not as scary for people?

Jan Fitness Challenge 2016

The basic rules are the same:

(1) a workout consists of 30 minutes or more of activity

(2) a workout can be any physical activity (ex. 30 mins at the gym, 30 mins cleaning your house, 30 mins packing away Christmas decorations…or whatever else you can think of, as long as it is 30 minutes)

(3) if you miss a day you can make it up another day – so, if you miss your planned 30 minute walk due to life getting in the way you can just add that 30 minutes on to a workout another day. This one isn’t quite as necessary since this time there are 30 days to complete the 20 workouts but towards the end people might be running out of days and I don’t want them to quit because they think they failed.

Thaaaaaat is pretty much it!

I am going to make some sort of cute tracker to put on my fridge to count the workouts, I like to be able to visually track my workouts, I find it helps motivate me on lazy days lol I have also found in the past a good way to keep track is to write on my calendar what exercise I did each day and then highlight it so when I glance at the calendar I can see quite clearly which days I worked out. The more highlighted words the better! It’s sort of like giving yourself a gold star sticker for accomplishing something and weirdly enough it works. Hey! Don’t judge! It’s just how I roll! lol πŸ˜‰ You do whatever works for you k?

Burnwater

17 Sep

For those of you not in to dragon boating you’re probably wondering what the hell Burnwater is. Well, lemme tell ya, it is a company that makes amazing dragon boat paddles and accessories.

Something else amazing about them? Their customer service!

My paddle got damaged towards the end of this season and had to be sent back to Burnwater (they are in the States) for repairs.

Here is what my paddle looked like…

2015-07-26 21.04.25

I had to drive over the border and take it to an American FedEx because FedEx on my side of the border said they aren’t legally allowed to ship the paddle to the States. Annoying but oh well, I got a little road trip out of it so yay! lol

My contact at Burnwater knew I needed it back for a race festival and it seemed like I would get it back in time. If I couldn’t get it back in time for the festival it was to be shipped to my parents place because I was going to be staying there while on vacation and I wanted it for a guest paddling session I was doing with a friend’s team.

The paddle didn’t arrive here or at my parents, it was mia.

The tracking information online said the package had cleared the San Francisco sorting facility and was en route but it had been saying that for a ridiculously long time.

Arin, my contact at Burnwater was so nice about all the harassing and annoying emails I kept sending him asking if he knew where it was and when it was obvious it was not going to show up he said he would send me a new paddle!

Can you believe that?! I mean, how awesome is that?? It wasn’t his fault USPS lost my paddle but he, on behalf of Burnwater, took ownership of the situation and fixed it.

Best customer service. Ever!

My brand new absolutely lovely and perfect paddle arrived this past Monday and I am not exaggerating when I say I hugged it. I hugged the box it was in when it arrived because I realized what it had to be and then I ripped the box open before even signing for the package and hugged the paddle directly.

I had it shipped to my work because there is always somebody there and it was just fluke it arrived on my shift. A friend of mine at work was there when I opened it, she now thinks I am a little crazy, as do the other staff and residents who saw me hugging it lol but that is okay, they suspected I was a certain level of crazy anyways, now it is just confirmed for them lol πŸ˜‰

I can’t seem to take a good picture of my new paddle so here are pictures I stole from the internet so you know what it looks like…as if you care lol πŸ˜›

Volunteer for Yoga

29 May

A little over three years ago I signed up for 30 days of unlimited Bikram Yoga. I don’t remember why I did it, there must have been a promotion of some kind because yoga is not cheap and it is not something I can normally afford. I enjoyed it, sort of, and opted to stay on their mailing list in case I ever decided I wanted to sign up for it again and miraculously had the money to spend on it lol.

bikram yoga

Last week I got an email newsletter from them talking about all sort of things and at the bottom there was a blurb about how they are looking for Karma Cleaners.

Basically, they are looking for people who are willing to volunteer to help clean the yoga studio and in exchange they get free yoga classes. A lot of yoga studios do this and I’ve been meaning to look in to it for a while now but never got around to it. Well, there was nothing to look in to since they had emailed me (and everyone else on their mailing list) about it so before I could talk myself out of it I shot off an email asking if there were still spots available.

I got a response and eventually ended up with an interview this past Tuesday. πŸ™‚

On the drive to the yoga studio I went to take a sip of water and managed to spill it all over my shirt and my lap, classic me, sigh. Luckily it was a warm day and my shirt managed to dry fairly fast. The pants though, um, not so much. They were black so it wasn’t obvious they were wet but lemme tell ya, sitting in an interview with damp pants, not comfy!

It was a really informal interview, I think if we hadn’t of gotten along she would have said she’d think about it or something along those lines but we did get along, my availability fit with what days they had openings and well, that was that, I start next Tuesday. πŸ™‚

It seems like a pretty good deal to me, I will clean for a little under two hours a week, all in one session. I’ll be the only one there so I can listen to my music and dance around like a weirdo when cleaning (cause that’s how I roll) and it won’t matter. Also, the studio room will have just had a class in it and right when I am done another class will be starting so the room will be at the hot temperature it is at when the class is in session, which means I am gonna sweat like crazeeeeee! I’m looking at this as an opportunity to not only get an extra fitness session in to my week with the actual yoga class I will take but get an additional almost two hours of activity in to my week with the cleaning. Finding out the room will be at its hot temperature made me want to do this even more lol

I was warned to bring water and to be careful to stay hydrated, also, I was told to wear whatever I want because by the end of my cleaning session my clothes will be soaked with sweat, ew, but yay? lol I’m allowed to use the showers that are there when I am done so I don’t have to leave there looking all sweaty and gross, which is nice.

I’m not a huge fan of cleaning, but I’m hoping when I get in to the routine of being there every Tuesday afternoon it’ll just become another one of the random things I do in a week, shrug. The lady I interviewed with said most of their Karma Cleaners stay with them for quite a while, as in years, they love that they get the free classes and the cleaning isn’t that hard or time consuming.

The two options I had were (1) clean for one session a week and get one free yoga class a week or (2) clean for two sessions a week and get unlimited yoga classes. I chose the one cleaning session a week because I don’t want to over commit. Also, even if I had unlimited yoga classes I don’t think I’d be able to fit them in all that often so it’d be kinda wasted on me. For now I am perfectly content to try to find time for one class a week. πŸ™‚ I was told if I ever wanted to change that and clean twice so I could get the unlimited classes to let them know and they’d find a second cleaning shift for me.

So there we have it, I have officially added another fitness activity to my week, and one I have to stick with because I made a commitment, not one I can shrug off when I don’t feel like it, which for me is a good thing because I excel at talking myself out of exercising lol πŸ˜›
