The May Vacation

5 Jun

A cat in a booster seat.

A playboy bunny image made out of snow.

A lot of Tim Hortons.

A carnival in transport.

A couple stops at Peter’s Drive In.

A best friend’s wedding.

And of course…food. Lots and lots of yummy food.

Those are but a glimpse of what made up my little May vacation.

I drove one province over to attend, and take part in!, my best friend’s wedding. I say “I” but it was really “we” since I go nowhere without the cat. He spent his 13 hours in a booster seat designed for dogs (don’t tell him that!) because there is a serious lack of travel items designed for cats.

Silent protest – something he is very very good at!

Sidenote: if anybody has start up money and wants to invest, I have some great ideas for a range of products to make travelling with your cat easier, lol.

Back to the trip!

On the way there we saw pieces of a carnival being transported who knows where, a muffin disaster at a Tim Hortons in Golden BC, a Playboy Bunny logo made out of snow on a mountain, oh, and there were a couple escape attempts by the cat when silent protest was deemed too calm of a way to show his displeasure.

I have been trying oh so hard for six months or so to not screw up so I would be able to fit in my bridesmaids dress and yay me, I fit! I did however get so caught up in the day I forgot to get a full length picture of me in the dress, sigh. So the best you’re gonna get is this selfie…

012aef19b56e7ee0d51e8183ca0dc4b2ab8ba6ed94

Gratuitous selfie.

I’m not going to share pics of the wedding, because well, that would be a lot of people to track down to ask if they are ok with their pics going on this blog and ain’t nobody got time for that! πŸ˜‰ Rest assured, it was beautiful. It was an outdoor ceremony at a mansion, pictures were done on location and also in an area with a great city view as the background. The reception was in a hall that I and others helped decorate the day prior. I gotta say, my friend is quite the savvy shopper. She got the place looking exactly how she wanted without breaking the bank.

Instead of a wedding cake there were doughnuts from some fancy bakery. Brilliant idea if you ask me!

01410b13db9a079421b83e4a9813282c6e6a7a4c60

I didn’t actually get to eat my doughnut, *pout*, as a drunk groomsman took it out of my hand as I was about to take a bite and ate it. Ate my doughnut. The doughnut that belonged to a lady who’d be dieting for 6 months. I’m impressed I didn’t jump him like a crazed animal.

Instead I ate a slice of pizza, that was second dinner, and oh my god was it goooood! Handmade crust by the caterer that was hired, seriously best crust I’ve ever had. I ended up eating a couple bites from three different slices, which makes me sound like a jerk but it is actually that the servers were just too darn efficient.

See, I had a slice, took one bite, someone was all “you’ve got to come dance!”, so I put the pizza down (on a plate I mean), went and danced, and when I came back it was gone. So like any normal person I used this as an opportunity to try a different kind of pizza, grabbed a new slice, took a bite, and basically the same thing happened, except I think it was me that was all “I love this song, I must dance!”, and yeah, when I got back the rest of my slice was gone. Not to be thwarted I grabbed a third slice, ate the crust first (the crust is the best part and I’d not managed to eat any of it yet lol), had a couple bites of the part of the slice that had toppings, and then threw it out so I could go dance.

Have you figured out yet that I like to dance? πŸ˜‰

I decided in total that equals to me eating one full slice, right?

I spent the day after the wedding wanting to die lol Hung over and sun stroked, my poor body was having none of it and I basically slept the day away on my parent’s couch. Aren’t I such a stellar example of being a grown-up! lol

Once I was feeling better things were pretty normal for one of my trips there. Visited with friends. Did some shopping. Chilled with the parents.

Granted, there was the day where a slice of cheesecake was both my breakfast and lunch which was pretty awesome…

0144fa6711c62f6a0f0b5f9203e3d73dffb4282885

From the Spinelli Italian Centre Shop. Go there. It’s worth it!

But ya know, other than cheesecake overload things were pretty normal.

The return trip was fairly uneventful. The cat and I finished our audio book, he didn’t seem at all surprised by the ending. πŸ˜‰ We got a milkshake at Peter’s Drive In, which if you are ever in the vicinity of Calgary AB you must must must go to Peter’s.

Best. Milkshakes. Ever.

And no, I didn’t get a picture, I was too busy driving and drinking the milkshake to take one. πŸ˜›

We got home super late, I took care of essentials – like putting the milk and wine in the fridge and having a shower, then we crawled in to bed where we both slept the way only travel weary people and cats can. I woke up briefly around 10 am (we went to bed at 4am so no judging!), looked at the time, said “nope”, rolled back over and went back to sleep. The cat didn’t even bother to wake up, he just stayed asleep until I got up at 3pm. Neither of us care for the whole waking up part of our day, we are well matched like that lol πŸ˜›

We wake up under protest, daily.

There ya have it! Our little road trip sadly is over, but we have memories and pictures, and a little more body fat, to remind us of all the fun we had. We are both back to routine, me with my two jobs and dragon boat practices, he with all his cat chores. The only big thing that is a constant reminder of the trip is the suitcase I still haven’t put away but I’m determined to do that tomorrow!…says the woman who has been putting it off for 6 days…ah well, it’ll get done eventually! πŸ™‚

Good Times On Mt Seymour

28 Feb

Snowshoeing, I hate typing that word, it feels awkward, but it is a fun activity so alas, I will be doomed to keep typing it. Oh what a hard life I lead *pauses for a dramatic swoon*

swoon

Some friends and I went up to Mt. Seymour to go snowshoeing and had a blast! Hmm…I’ve really gotta learn some new slang…

The day started with dragon boat practice (for two of us), then brunch, then snowshoeing. So ya know, just a slightly active day. πŸ˜‰

I wasn’t sure my suv would be allowed up the mountain, if the roads are bad they make you park at the bottom and take a shuttle up but nobody checked us so up we went…slowly…as in old granny slow…the higher we got the more the snow was swirling around and the more wintry it became. It always amazes me how you can go from city to mountain so quickly here.

Because we were snowshoeing and not skiing or snowboarding we had to park farther away, snowshoe discrimination! πŸ˜‰ It is actually ok because it gave us time to get used to walking on the snowshoes.

Once we were strapped in and on our way it was basically just fun. The whole time. I mean c’mon, get four friends together, strap their feet to snowshoes, set them on a trail, and how could that not be fun?

I did learn that all my survival knowledge is basically theoretical and does not kick in as an automatic response when faced with a potentially dangerous situation…great thing to learn up on a mountain in winter lol

See, we were trekking along this one narrow stretch where you have to go single file and all of a sudden snow is falling on us. And not the snow that had been falling all day, no no, I mean big poofy coming from the side of the mountain snow. There is technically a potential of avalanche and part of my brain kept thinking “keep moving. you have to keep moving. woman move your feet!” but in actuality all the four of us did was turn around, look up at the mountain to see where the snow was coming from, start laughing and wondering what was happening. So yeah, the survival skills of my friends and I are maybe not the absolute highest they could be…but I’m sure somewhere out there someone is worse than us…right?

All in all it was a great day, as you can see in the above pictures. I wish there could be more like that. πŸ™‚

I Should Be Drunk…

26 Oct

I had a craptastic day lol It was one of those days that starts off ok and you think “sure, it is early on a Monday but things are cool, I can roll with this” and then boom! The day fully hits ya and it is a doozy, ugh.

It wasn’t one big thing that happened that made it harsh, it was a bunch of little things and a never ending line of people wanting something. One of those days that for every 3 things you accomplish 10 more pop up and it just seems like you are a hamster on a wheel, moving fast but going nowhere.

It is not a fun feeling.

By the end of the day all I wanted to do was drink lol which is very unlike me! But yeah I just kept thinking this is a day that is meant to end with some form of cold, alcoholic drink.

And yes, before you judge, I know that isn’t a healthy way to deal with stress *rolls eyes*

I got waylaid from my plans to go home and drink alone by a friend who needed to run a fun errand and asked me if I wanted to come along. I said yes because I know she just sold her car and is still adjusting to taking transit everywhere and I thought I’d do her a favour and save her the multiple bus trips she would have to take.

On the way to pick her up I stopped to fill my suv’s gas tank and popped in to a Tim Horton’s and got us each a Pumpkin Spice Muffin – she was having a bad day also and I figured an awesome Timmy’s muffin could only make things better lol πŸ˜›

Our fun errand was hitting up a Toys R Us. Yes, two grown ass adults who do not have children were going shopping at Toys R Us. Oh, and not only did we linger and have a blast I hit every button on every noisy toy I could and basically made the store come alive with sound! There is a reason people don’t go to stores like that with me but jokes on my friend cause she didn’t know! Bwahahahaha! πŸ˜‰

She had an actual mission for what she was looking for, I had a vague thought about checking out the dinosaur toys to see if there was something I thought my youngest nephew might want for Christmas. She found what she was looking for. I didn’t see any interesting dinosaurs but I did find this…

Its Toothless! Awwww!

Its Toothless! Awwww!

Its Toothless! From the movie How To Train Your Dragon (1 & 2). He is sooooooo cute! I’ve always had a fondness for this little cutie and when we were wandering the store I saw this little figurine, it was only $6 so I decided to treat myself and buy it. Sure it seems like a silly thing to treat myself with but it made me smile, every time I look at it it makes me grin and if making me happy isn’t a good reason to buy something then what is?

In the end we spent an hour and a half meandering through Toys R Us, which surprised us when we realized it, which wasn’t until we were at the till and we discovered there was practically nobody else in the store, only one till was open, and it was so quiet all the staff were congregating and chatting, lol. Oops? πŸ˜›

Such a better way to spend my evening! In the company of a good friend, pushing endless buttons so I could make alllllll the toys make noise, and bringing home an adorable Toothless. Much better than going home after work and having a drink, or two! πŸ™‚

UK Trip Day 1: July 14/14

8 Aug

I started my first day of vacation by working, weird huh? But normal for me lol I like to start my vacations as soon as possible and not waste even a moment of time. πŸ™‚

I worked 7am-1pm then scooted off home to finish packing, cuddle with the cat, shower (I like showering as close to leaving as possible if there is more than a couple hours travel time, shrug) and all that other stuff you have to do last minute before leaving for an extended period of time. For all that I planned huge parts of my trip I didn’t give much thought to how I was getting to the airport or what time I should be there by, or really, any part of the first part of my travel, oops? I guess I figured it had to work out so why worry about it in advance, right? πŸ˜‰

My flight left at 6:30pm so I started for the airport a bit after 4pm, took a cab then a skytrain and meandered in to the airport a bit before 5pm. I breezed through the baggage check in, was randomly chosen for “extra screening” at security, sigh. I had the option of being patted down in such a manner I would feel the security person should buy me dinner first or being put in that machine that takes a super detailed picture of my body. I have experienced both before and opted for the body scan, it is quicker and it means my shirt won’t be lifted up in public lol

Random question: Am I the only one who sucks in their tummy when that body scan picture is taken? I know it is pointless to do so but I still do…

Anyways, I had enough time to get a snack from Tim Horton’s, my last little bit of Canada, before flying out. Sadly the donut I bought was stale, ugh, but the iced capp was yum! πŸ™‚

Last little bit of home :)

Last little bit of home πŸ™‚

The first leg of my flight was great, course, I love flying so I generally find my flights great lol I had a window seat, I always book a window seat, I’m a diva like that lol πŸ˜‰ It was a two seater row and there was nobody in the seat next to me so I got to stretch out which was an unexpected surprise. My plan was to wear myself out for days prior so that I would sleep during the flight, why else book an overnight flight right? I had to stay awake for dinner though, I love airplane food, but not only do I like the food I didn’t spend all that money on a plane ticket to not get my food! lol I chose the pasta dish, seemed safer than the chicken. There was a super moist chocolate brownie, how sad is it that the brownie on the plane was better than the donut I got from the Tim Horton’s in the airport? Something is seriously flawed there, tsk tsk Tim Horton’s! πŸ˜‰

Airplane food, yay!

Airplane food, yay!

I watched the movie Labor Day, which fyi, excellent movie! Then semi-watched Mamma Mia, I say semi-watched because I purposefully chose it because I have seen it before and figured I could doze off to it. My plan sort of worked…I did sleep on the flight but not a solid sleep, I was constantly drifting in and out of sleep and didn’t reach a deep sleep like I had hoped I would. I bought a sleep mask to wear and am grateful for it, I think I only managed to sleep as well as I did because of that and the weird u-shaped travel pillow I had. I must have looked ridiculous lol

We landed in London July 15th, a bit later than planned but that’s ok, I got some nice shots from the air…

DSCF0009

DSCF0011

DSCF0013

I had to run through Heathrow Airport to get to my next flight, fyi, an hour and a half between flights is not enough if you are at Heathrow. When I was going through immigration the lady looked at my boarding pass and said “is your flight at one??”, my response was “if that is what the boarding pass says then yup”, she gave me a funny look then said she was fast-tracking me. I took that to mean I was running late but not like I can make the lines move faster, shrug. Even with being put in the fast line for security it took for freakin ever and since I didn’t have anything on me that had the time and couldn’t see a clock anywhere I was torn between mild panic because maybe I was about to miss my flight and didn’t know it and just chilling cause there is nothing I can do about it if I miss the flight and I’m sure it’ll all work out in the end lol.

Security didn’t like me, sigh, I forgot to take my water bottle out of the side of my bag so my entire carry on had to be searched because of that, oh, and I also got patted down to such a degree I felt like I was on a third date *rolls eyes* lol That was when the running started, running to the escalator, running down the escalator, running to the gate where luckily they saw me barreling down on them and kindly waited for me. Thank goodness they had snacks on the plane cause there was absolutely no time to get anything at Heathrow and the breakfast I got served on the first flight was long gone, it was a simple breakfast of yogurt and banana bread.

The flight between London and Manchester is short and I dozed through most of it, well, dozed or chatted with the cutie in the seat next to me. πŸ˜‰

Aaaaand this is turning in to a huge post so I’ll finish the rest of it in a second post…see you there! πŸ™‚

My Last Three Days

21 Mar

My last three days have been busy, or at least they felt that way but when I look back on them I can’t figure out why they felt so busy…weird… πŸ˜›

Well ok, Tuesday wasn’t busy lol I slept in, chilled with the cat then went to dragon boat practice. After practice I made dinner, cooked a new fish dish which turned out well, when I say “well” I mean I didn’t give myself food poisoning lol It tasted fine, nothing great so I won’t be buying it again, shrug. It was healthy though, which was what I was aiming for so yay for getting that right! Although, someone out there will probably read what it was and say I am wrong *rolls eyes* Leave me with my delusions!Β lol

It was a coconut crusted piece of tilapia, there was seasoning in there too, not like it was just coconut but since it came pre-crusted/seasoned I couldn’t say for sure what those seasonings were…

tilapia coated with seasoning and coconut, yams and grilled peppers

tilapia coated with seasoning and coconut, yams and grilled peppers

I paired it with some red and yellow grilled peppers and some sliced yam, those were cooked in a pan on top of the stove with no butter/spray/oil used, I just put a small bit of water in the pan so the food didn’t stick. I was paranoid about cooking the fish, the instructions said cook for ten minutes per inch and a half of thickness, what?? That’s not cool, I want specific directions for my piece of fish, I want to be told exactly how many minutes for my fish, not have to figure it out myself cause dude, I’ll figure it out wrong! Least, that was the panicked thoughts going through my head lol Turns out it was cooked perfectly, go fig! πŸ™‚

Wednesday I spent the afternoon with my lil sis at the mall. Normally I try to get us doing something active for at least part of our time together but her birthday was this week so I let her decide every thing we did Wednesday which meant we spent the entire time in the mall. Ah well, it’s her day! πŸ™‚ We had fun, which was a given really lol I bought a new phone case for myself which I am in love with right now, every time I pick up my phone I laugh, teehee, and yes I know, I am easily amused. It is a someecards cover and looks like this…

cause I know you care what my phone case looks like lol

cause I know you care what my phone case looks like lol

We had a pit stop at Tim Horton’s cause well, why wouldn’t we?? There is a new maple glazed doughnut out and all I can say to Timmy’s about that is bravo *slow clap* ya done goooooood! My other comment to them is where are all the winning cups?? It’s Roll Up The Rim game time and none of my cups have won so far! *pout*

medium steeped tea and a doughnut, classic!

medium steeped tea and a doughnut, classic!

In the evening I hung out with KL, we got dinner (Indian food, Mmm!), then saw the movie 12 Years A Slave and holy crap was it amazing! Brutal. But amazing. So no exercise for me at all on Wednesday, and lots of food, which is sorta reversed to how it is supposed to be but alas, Wednesday was two days ago so there’s nuthin I can do about it now! lol πŸ˜›

Sidenote:

Every time this commercial comes on tv I stop and watch. I love it, well, right up until it gets to the part about advertising for Centrum Science Multi-Vitamins cause I’m not on that whole vitamin bandwagon but I find the commercial inspiring (to a point). All those people, of various ages and backgrounds taking part in a wide variety of physical activities, leading healthy lifestyles, I dunno, something about it makes me want to do more. Try a new sport, or go back to one I used to do and stopped *cough*boxing*cough*

Thursday!

I had a relaxing morning, went to an audition early afternoon, then dragon boat practice at night then out for dinner later that night. Thursday was a good day. πŸ™‚

The audition went great, I got amazing feedback from the casting director so wOOt! wOOt! I can’t tell anything about the project or specifics about the auditions cause I signed a non-disclosure agreement but if it turns in to anything rest assured I’ll be linking it to my blog so you can all pretend to watch it lol πŸ˜‰

At practice we got informed that us girls have to train twice as hard as the guys and that we (this time I mean everyone, not just the girls) are supposed to be eating healthy (duh!) and we aren’t supposed to drink alcohol…um, what? Not like I drink a lot or anything but…none? At all? Hmm…this woman really doesn’t know us lol

Her strictness with things did help curb my appetite today though, which I suppose is good, any little bit helps right? I had dinner at work but only cause it was a fish steak with veggies, there were other things with it (mashed potatoes, spring rolls, apple pie etc) but I didn’t eat those. Didn’t even snag a cookie for dessert!

Oh and lastly! A friend of mine who is a trainer informed me that a respectable time to complete my BMO Run is 45 minutes…I’m going to die…my training is pretty much non-existent, which is not good, I’ve gotta start kicking my own ass in to gear when it comes to running, ugh. Whyyyyyy did I sign up for this? Stupid-wanting-a-new-challenge-feeling *rolls eyes* πŸ˜›

Nowhere Near Wordless Wednesday

4 Dec

Alrighty, so we all know I suck at Wordless Wednesdays, I never get enough pictures, I never remember to post on the Wednesday so I can use what pictures I managed to take, it’s just not my strong suit lol But I’m going to give it another go…

Breakfast and Lunch from Starbucks

Breakfast and Lunch from Starbucks

Nutritional info from the Protein Bistro Box from Starbucks

Nutritional info from the Protein Bistro Box from Starbucks

Breakfast and lunch today were from Starbucks, I don’t recommend this lol. I grabbed the Protein Bistro Box, along with a Grande Soy Chai Latte and while the drink is tasty, and the food alright, it wasn’t as good a breakfast as my normal egg, two slices of turkey bacon, apple and cup of tea, shrug.

In my Bistro Box I had: 1 hard boiled egg, 3 slices of apple, 9 seedless grapes, 1 slice of white cheddar cheese, 1 piece of bread with fruit in it (raisins) and 1 packet of peanut butter. I did not eat the bread or the peanut butter (even though I desperately wanted the peanut butter because I miss peanut butter!) I shouldn’t have eaten the cheese either, what with it being dairy and I’m supposed to be non-dairy right now buuuuut I kinda forgot, lol, I’m not even lying, I was eating, knew I wasn’t going to eat the bread or peanut butter but didn’t even clue in about the cheese, oops! And yes, sometimes I am just that dumb πŸ˜›

Knitting and I...oh dear...

Knitting and I…oh dear…

A little farther along....

A little farther along….

Ok, granted my attempt at knitting looks pathetic so far but hey! I’m just learning (my little sister is teaching me πŸ™‚ ) and she is uber patient with me which is good as I kinda suck lol I’m actually farther along then that second pic shows I just didn’t take another picture of it yet

Ahhhhh, steeped tea, Mmm!

Ahhhhh, steeped tea, Mmm!

My Timmy’s steeped tea – this is what got me through the knitting lesson! πŸ˜›

What I ordered for dinner, it says right there it is "very healthy"!

What I ordered for dinner, it says right there it is “very healthy”!

What my dinner actually looked like

What my dinner looked like

I had a dragon boat team meeting that was held at a Japanese Restaurant. We go there often and usually I order sushi but it is cold out tonight and I wanted something warm. I was also trying to find something I’d be able to calculate the nutritional information for afterwards lol According to the sign the Chicken Mizutaki is “very healthy foods” and the list of ingredients sure sounds healthy so I figured why not? Lemme tell ya, healthy? Maybe. Tasty? Nope! Most bland meal ever! It was a clear, tasteless broth, with noodles, tofu, chicken, one slice of carrot and a bunch of cabbage in it. Oh, and one shitaki mushroom, that’s the dark spot in the pic in the left side of the bowl. I was planning on avoiding as much of the noodles as possible but I was super hungry, the meal was super not filling and I ended up eating noodles because the alternate was eating a pathetic amount of vegg, some tofu and some chicken. sigh. I checked nutritional information for this dish once I got home, I found information for a version of it that actually had more variety of vegg in the dish so I know the info isn’t quite accurate but it is the best I’ve got. All in all, not horrible calorie wise but I wouldn’t order it again. Just because something is healthy doesn’t mean it has to be tasteless! I’d rather something with flavour next time thank-you-very-much. πŸ™‚

A new tea for my "collection"

A new tea for my “collection”

I am venturing in to the world of flavoured tea. My outlook on tea is this, flavoured tea is not tea, it is a flavoured hot drink, but not tea. Tea is tea. The end. However, I am trying to branch out and this is what I bought. I chose this because I already know I like chai and, well, that’s pretty much the only reason. lol I’m fairly certain there is no caffeine in this tea but I could be wrong, maybe I should google before I go any further…

…alright, so I just googled and I am wrong, crap. My chai tea does have caffeine, sigh. The whole reason I am trying flavoured teas is due to my inability to go to sleep like a normal person. I drink Tetley tea like it is going out of style! I love my cuppa Tetley. πŸ™‚ I have it as my first drink of the day to wake me up, my last drink of the day to calm me down and multiple times throughout the day just because. My theory was swap out my last cup of the day with a non-caffeinated tea and maybe that would help me get to sleep easier…it’s worth a shot at least! I’ve already had a cup of the chai tea this evening and it tasted good, not as good as Teltey, and not as good as a Chai Latte (massive weakness of mine!) but good. Even though it turns out it does have caffeine so it won’t work as part of my new found plan it won’t go to waste, I like it enough I’ll keep drinking it, though I miiiiight not replace it once it is gone, we shall see!

Well, that is the end of my pictures so I guess that means it is the end of my post! lol πŸ™‚

I Threw It Out

23 Dec

I can’t believe I did it, I actually threw out a donut, a fresh purchased from Tim Horton’s less then 2 hours earlier donut…it was a vanilla dip with holiday red and green icing on top, it was so pretty…or was before it had an unfortunate encounter with a book, oops!

Here’s the deal, I was at the airport with my cat, my whiplash and my muscle strain trying to figure out if I was hungry or not. I had a while to go before boarding but the food court was starting to close (quite early in my opinion) and I was left with making a rushed decision about food. I wasn’t feeling particularly hungry at that moment in time but figured once I got through security and was cut off from the various food sources in the airport my hunger would kick in and I’d be pissed that I chose to not eat. So I did what any self-respecting Canadian would do, I went to Tim Horton’s! πŸ˜€ Ordered a sandwich and on a whim decided to get a donut as well, I wanted a steeped tea but was about to go through security and knew I wouldn’t finish it in time and No Way am I throwing out a cup of tea!

Once the cat and I got through the ordeal of security (fun fact, you have to take the cat out of the carrier and walk through the metal detector while holding the cat so that the cat carrier can go through the x-ray machine…not that I would let my cat go through the x-ray machine but what genius *read that as moron!* came up with the idea of taking a terrorized cat out of his carrier in the middle of a busy airport???) *shakes it off* anyways! Once we got through that and were settled at our gate I decided it was din din time, Mmm! Timmy’s sandwich here I come! It was good, as I knew it would be, I got the turkey chipotle on brown bread, can’t go wrong there! πŸ™‚

I had started debating about the donut, regretting the purchase, thinking I shouldn’t have done it, it was late-ish evening so I shouldn’t be having so much sugar, I wasn’t hungry now that I’d eaten the sandwich and I’m heading home to a bday dinner (mine), a xmas dinner (with the family), and multiple eating out situations over the course of the next week…do I really need to start my week of food-related-activites with a donut? That donut might be the item that tips the scale, that takes me from eating a bit too much to complete over indulgence, it might be the starting point of a horrible food week versus a not perfect food week…I know I know, that’s a lot of pressure to put on one little donut but I have found that the way you start a vacation is how you tend to maintain and end a vacation…it’s all about habits ya know?

So I pull the donut out of my purse (uh, it was in a bag of it’s own, not like it was loose in the purse lol) and realized my book squashed it! One whole section of it was smooshed almost completely flat! Poor donut. 😦 Now yes it was still edible, and some foods, oddly enough, are more tasty when slightly destroyed or just plain messier (like burgers, a burger tastes best when it is messy, I don’t know why, it just does, shrug) and I’m absolutely positive that donut would have tasted delicious but instead…I threw it out. Didn’t even feel a twinge of regret. Sure, I wasted the money I spent buying it but luckily donuts are cheap and if it’s a choice between wasting a bit of money and saving myself un-necesarry calories, well, I’ll save the calories everytime!

Here’s to having a great birthday (today) where I don’t feel I ate too horribly (home made stir fry for dinner thanks to my mom) and homemade birthday cake to go with it (hey! birthdays deserve dessert!). I may go a little crazy on xmas day but hey, I managed to throw out that donut so maybe I won’t? Guess we’ll find out! lol πŸ˜‰

A Day Of Thwartation

25 Mar

Ok, so sure, technically ‘thwartation’ isn’t a word, ya know, in the dictionary sense of what is a word but hey, I make up words all the time so going by my rules, if I use the word then it is a word…and who wants to only use words that are technically words, that’d be so boring! πŸ˜›

I’m not a huge going out drinking partying type of girl, I go out, don’t get me wrong, I have fun with friends and do my thang but that doesn’t usually include hitting up nightclubs every weekend in a month…that is for when you are in your late teens early twenties, somewhere around 25 I figured out I wasn’t having as much fun as I used to and I moved away from that being my regular social scene. You’d never know that though judging by this month! Last weekend was St. Patrick’s Day so I was out partying for that, took a whole day and a half to properly recover lol. Then this past Friday I was out doing the hotel party and bar scene in honour of a friend’s birthday, didn’t need quite as much time to recover from that one, phew! πŸ˜‰ Aaaand next weekend I am going to my roomie’s berlesque show and I am fairly certain after the show we will all be hitting up a bar or two to celebrate her awesomeness. Β Can I say how much this is screwing up my eating plan?!?! Oy!

Not only is it messing up my eating plan but this weekends festivities also messed up my gym time, and that I am just not happy with!

On Friday I was s’posed to workout with NC but plans changed and we ran out of time so we ended up seeing The Hunger Games and then he had to go to work and I had to go get ready to go out. I ate a whopping half an apple that day, pathetic huh? I know a lot of girls that when going out somewhere in the evening that requires dressing up they will severely limit their food intake that day to ensure they look good in their outfit that night, come on, admit it, you do it to don’t cha? I know I sure as hell do, I’ve been doing that since high school lol. Well, I mentioned to NC on Friday I was thinking of not eating that day to compensate for the calories I’d be taking in that night in the form of alcohol…apparently that is one of the dumbest things he’s ever heard me say…he needs to hang around me more often cause I’m sure I say way dumber things on almost a daily basis πŸ˜‰ lol He says you should still eat normally even if you know you’re going to be eating or drinking something not good for you eating plan wise cause it’s not just about calories per day, you have to look at it on a weekly basis…I will admit, I’m having lotsa trouble with that, I keep looking at my food on a daily basis, hmmm, something to work on I guess, sigh.

Anyways, sure there are a lot of calories in alcohol but there is no good stuff in there, so yeah, sure, drink a beer, get your 148 calories (if it’s a Corona) but where are your proteins? Carbs? Healthy fats? Where’s all the nutrients and vitamins and all that other stuff that your body needs to function and stay healthy? Sure as shit it’s not in that beer you just downed. So it’s better to eat your food that day and have the beer on top of that instead of skipping your food and just drinking the beer. Cause sure, if you eat and drink the beers you’re gonna go over your calories but at least you haven’t skipped meals and impaired your body’s ability to metabolize, repair itself, lose weight, build muscle and blah blah blah. That’s where the weekly view point comes in to play. You need your macronutrient levels for the week to be good, not just your calories for the day. Make sense? Kinda? Take your time to wrap your head around it, I’m still working on it. lol.

So Friday I grabbed a sandwich from Tim Horton’s on my way home to get ready to go out, had to inhale the stupid (and yet oh so yummy) thing cause I was running way late, oops! Even though a sandwich isn’t the healthiest and closest to my eating plan meal I could have had it was the best I could manage since I didn’t have time to cook. This means that Friday, I ate half an apple, one Timmy’s sandwich, and ok fine, I’ll admit it, one Timmy’s maple cookie (so sue me, maple flavour is in right now and it’s my fave and I was freakin starving!), then I went out and drank. πŸ˜› Β Not as much as I could have, or even wanted to cause I wanted to make sure I was sobered up by the end of the night so I could drive home, damn having to be responsible! πŸ˜‰ The night started and ended at the hotel so while everyone was back at the hotel after the club getting even more wasted I was drinking pop and eating a couple slices of pizza and doing my best to sober up, which I did quite well thank you very much. πŸ˜› lol The pizza however, didn’t help my calories for the day or my macronutrients for the week I am sure! But holy crap was it tasteeeeeee. Mmm!

Then Saturday I slept in, shocking huh? In my defence i didn’t get to bed till like 6am so sleeping in was really just getting me my normal amount of sleep…that’s my story an I’m sticking to it! lol. I had plans for that night so I had to get my butt in gear, I went and did some errands, walking instead of driving, so I could get some air and some movement since I’d been out of it for so long that day I didn’t hit up the gym. I however did manage to, get this, brace yourself…eat…healthy! When hungover! That is a minor miracle if ever there was one! lol. For me, the day after drinking is like a day out of life, I eat whatever I want (which is usually not a lot of food but it will be something way bad for me) and I do almost nothing physically, I kinda baby my body. Well on Saturday, instead of eating bad for me stuff I ate my half a chicken breast with a half a potato, and my yummy protein shake (uh, not in that order) and drank water instead of pop. I was so proud! Felt a little strange, but a good strange, ya know? Then that night I was at the Keg with JB and we split some nachos and I got a bellini so um, oops? I also didn’t get any exercise that day, except for my walking, cause of my whole recovering and feeling like crap for a good chunk of the day thing. I was sorta ok with this though cause Sunday is my normal day off from the gym but I was gonna hit it up to make up for not going Friday or Saturday and that would mean I really only missed one day last week and I’d feel not soooo bad about that. πŸ™‚

It was a decent plan, right? I sure think it was but um, yeah, totally didn’t happen. I slept in on Sunday, *rolls eyes* you’re seriously not used to that yet? lol And when I got to the gym they had closed, I got there 5 minutes after they closed! Ack! Soooooo annoying! I’d of preferred if they had closed way earlier instead of me just missing it, sigh. So thwarted for exercising, damn! Well, I also had to go to the docs so off I went there and they had a sign saying that due to government regulations about how many patients a doc can see in a day the doc can’t see anymore patients today cause they’d reached their max. Uh, What??? The doc’s office didn’t close for another 5 hours but they weren’t taking any more patients? Who came up with that system? Lame! Thwarted again!

Seriously, a day of thwartation, ugh. On the heels of two days of eating not horrendously but not properly and with no exercising…Crap! And tomorrow is weigh in day…*bangs head against wall* I was doing so well during the week but this weekend totally undid all that work…the scale tomorrow is gonna suck! …and the gym probably will too after being away for three days *groans* Wish me luck, I’m gonna need it! lol πŸ˜›

Don’t Make Me Go Postal On You

14 Oct

Do you ever have one of those days where people and circumstances piss you off quicker then usual?

That was me today. sigh.

I don’t know why this happens, it doesn’t happen all that often luckily…some say I have a temper cause of my red hair, ah, don’t you just loooove stereotypes? Yup, I sure do, I absolutely adore being judged based solely on my hair colour. *rolls eyes* I won’t even go in to the comments I get from people based on the other stereotypes about redheads.

Personally, I like to think I have a temper because I feel emotions strongly, I don’t think it has anything to do with my hair colour.lol And! My temper isn’t even all that bad anymore! It’s not like it mellowed with age or anything, more like I got better at controlling it and deciding when to let it “be freeeeee” and when I am over-reacting.

Well today, oh today, *big sigh*, I thought I was gonna burst a blood vessel cause of all the stupidity surrounding me.

It started with Tim Horton’s, I love Timmy’s! I however, generally, don’t care much for the majority of the staff there…it’s like management purposefully picks employees who don’t listen to what the customer wants and are incapable of critical thinking…and see, that’s a sign of my temper cause that’s such an over-generalization of the staff there. I have had great experiences at Tim’s, staff that were super friendly and helpful and it’s not right for me to label them all as incompetent-annoying-stupid-boobs just cause I’m in a mood…and yet, right now, I am. erg.

Here is how my convo at the Tim’s counter went (oh, and I’m inside face-to-face with the cashier not talking through one of drive thru boxes):

Me: Hi, I’d like a pumpkin spice tea and a tin of fine ground coffee please.

Staff #1: What? you want coffee?

Me: Yeah, a tin of the fine ground coffee…oh, and a pumpkin spice tea.

Staff #1: *staring at her till*muttering* coffee…coffee…coffee…Ok, one tin of coffee *she then goes and grabs the tin*stares at me expectandly

Me: and a pumpkin spice tea, you still have that right? the website says you stock it for all of October…

Staff #1: Pumpkin spice donut?

Me: uh, sure, I guess I could take one of those too but I’d really like the pumpkin spice tea.

Staff #1: in a tin?

Me: no, in a cup, so I can drink it.

Staff #1: oh! ok. *punches stuff on her till* your total is $$, the other lady will make your tea and put it over there

Me: Thanks. *I go to the pick up counter*

Staff #2: here’s your wrap

Me: I didn’t order a wrap, I’m waiting for my cup of tea

Staff #1: she wants a pumpkin tea

Staff #3: she wants what?

Staff#2: I’m not sure…

Staff #1: the pumpkin tea, do we still have that?

Staff #3: no, we’re all out of that

Staff #1: *to me this time* oh, we’re all out of the pumpkin tea *goes to turn away*

Me: well, can I just get a steeped tea then (they are the same price and I’ve already paid)

Staff #1: what?

Me: a steeped tea?

Staff #1: what is that?

Me: *louder and with even clearer pronounciation* a STEEPED tea, you know, the normal tea?

Staff #1: ooooh, um ok, what size?

Me: whatever size you charged me for when you placed the order for the pumpkin tea is fine.

Staff #1: ok, cream and sugar?

Me: just one milk please

Staff #1: so cream and sugar.

Me: No, just one milk.

Staff #1: one cream?

Me: Milk!

Staff #1: oh, milk, ok

That was my first encounter with humanity today, well face to face anyways, it totally set the mood for the rest of my day. *wrinkles nose*

It got even worse when I was in Wal-Mart. Along with my other items I was buying I needed to buy a roll of scotch tape (you know, the kind you can write on?), well, when I got to the till it wouldn’t scan, system said it wasn’t “in the system” so the cashier throws the tape to the side, says it won’t scan and proceded to charge me for my other items. Uh, I needed the tape, otherwise I wouldn’t be buying it. lol. So I tell her I need the tape and that started off a whole chain of events that almost drove me to go postal in Wal-Mart. *rolls eyes*

I won’t write out the whole convo cause it’s too long but here are some fun highlights of this encounter (1) cashier won’t use her phone to call for help or get a manager cause “her throat hurts” (uh, she was talking just fine) (2) even though the barcode isn’t in system so their till doesn’t think the tape exists she wants me to go back to where I got it and grab another one (3) a manager came over, said “oh yeah, sorry, we can’t sell this to you cause it’s not in the system, same thing happened with this tape last night” to which I pointed out if they knew the tape was causing a problem last night they should have taken it off the shelf because I need the tape and since it was there for me to select they have to figure out a way to get it in the system so I can buy it (I was getting pissy by this point) (4) the manager goes away, with the tape, a different manager comes up to see what’s going on so the cashier sorta explains it (5) I’m told to wait to the side a bit while the cashier rings through those behind me, by doing this I got hit by a cart when the lady pushing it didn’t pay attention to where she was going (6) after waiting 20 minutes and the manager not coming back I pay for my other stuff and tell the cashier I want to speak to a manager about the “situation”, I am told to talk to a manager I have to go wait in the Customer Service line – which is huuuuuge (7) I wait in line, the manager finally pops up with a different type of tape and wants me to buy that one instead, I explain I need the other type cause it can be written on, (8) they realize it’s stupidly easy to sell me the tape by putting it in the till as a generic code and I finally get to leave.

After all that I couldn’t wait to get to boxing class! lol I took out much of my frustration while boxing this evening and boy did it feel gooood! Least I won’t be going to bed annoyed with the world. lol. πŸ˜›

Sorry this post had nothing to do about my weight watchers or exercise plan, I’ll be more on the ball with my writing tomorrow. πŸ˜€ maybe πŸ˜‰ teehee

Stupid Move

30 Aug

I picked up a shift today so I was up, dressed, purdy’d up, fed and out of the house by 9:45am which, compared to how I normally spend my days, is early. lol.Β  πŸ˜€

When I was done work I had to stop and get gas for the suv and the gas station had a Tim Horton’s in it, oh danger zone! Now, the provincial law here is that you have to pre-pay for gas so I always pay at the pump, this means I don’t have to go in to the store and see all the junk food that might tempt me but they were having a sale on smallish sized bottles of pop, 99cents for a 414ml bottle and I really wanted a half n half (I’ll explain what that is in a sec…) and I figured I could afford to spend $2. When I was in the store I remembered I need milk and decided since they were also having a sale on that I’d pick it up there instead of making a special trip to the grocery store for it – it’s all about saving gas in my world lol.

Well, I magically ended up at the Tim Horton’s counter, weird how that happens huh? πŸ˜‰ They had my absolute fave donut in stock and I was unable to resist, I mean, come on, with tax a donut is a whopping $1.01 and it tastes sooooooo good! The only down side is that I thought I’d be able to get the nutritional info from the website, normally Timmy’s is really good for that, but of course that’s like the one frickin donut they don’t have info for. lol. I got the Toasted Chocolate Coconut donut, and I’m gonna admit, I enjoyed Every.Single.Bite. πŸ˜€ Since I couldn’t find the donut’s nutritional info I took the info from a chocolate glazed donut…I know it’s not right, but the donut was chocolate, although not glazed, but I figure the points for the glaze will stand in for whatever the points for the coconut is…does that make sense? It does in my head…

Well, now I am regretting that donut. *groan* Not cause of the points, the calories, the fat the general lack of nutritional value that it didn’t add to my body lol, I am regretting it cause I am uber hungry but don’t have points to eat. Aaaaaahhhhhh! Hungry! erg.

I earned 3 exercise points today and have eaten 22 points today which means I have eaten 2 of my 3 exercise points and I don’t like eating all the exercise points that I earn in a day…I prefer to not eat the exercise points cause then it means I am losing weight faster…in theory…but every now and then, it means I am feeling starved cause at some point in the day I made a stupid move food wise and instead of filling up on a proper meal I fill up on oh, say, a donut *rolls eyes* and that leaves my tummy saying “hey, moron! I still need food down here! what the heck are ya doin? you think that donut was a meal, cause it wasn’t, and I’m gonna make you pay for that aaaallllll night, sucker!” I swear, that’s exactly what my stomach says to me!

This used to happen to me when I first started Weight Watchers, I’d go to Starbucks and get my Iced Chai Latte and then suffer later that night cause the latte was like 6 points so drinking it meant I missed a meal and by the time I went to bed I felt like I hadn’t eaten in years, lol, yes, I know, dramatic, but when you’re used to eating whenever and whatever all of a sudden restricting yourself tends to freak out your tummy. lol. Well, today is like a flashback of that, my stomach is all about wanting food and my brain is all “No!” I’d say I wonder which will win but I know it will be my brain because I can’t eat this late at night when I don’t have my medication, as it is I ate dinner later then I should have but that couldn’t be helped so tomorrow might be a bit harsh…ugh…but, on the plus side I’m hitting up the docs tomorrow so I may get the right prescription, or at least ‘a’ prescription and I may soon be medicated, yah!

Today I ate:

1 Cup cooked oatmeal = 2 points

1 Activia yogurt = 2 points

2 Weetabix = 2 points

1/2 Cup skim milk = 1 point

1 Kashi pumpkin spice bar = 2 points

1 Coconut Donut = 6 points

1/2 Coke, 1/2 Diet Coke = 1 point

1 Cup brown rice = 4 points

1 turkey hot dog = 2 points

mixed veggies = 0 points

1/2 tbls soya sauce = 0 points

Total Points Eaten = 22

Exercise Points Earned = 3

Oh, so the half n half I mentioned above, it’s equal portions of Coke (or Pepsi) and Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi). KL got me drinking this and I could shoot her for it cause I never drink my points but the combo of the two pops (the regular and the diet) is so tasty. Way back in the day (like I don’t even remember how many years ago) I used to drink Coke, and man, I drank it like it was gonna run out the next day and I had to get as much of it as possible into me as quickly as possible lol. Eventually I forced myself to start drinking diet Coke (I used to hate hate hate it but I retrained my taste buds, not an easy thing to do! lol) and I drank just as much if not more diet Coke as when I drank the regular Coke, after all, there were no points for a diet Coke so it made it the perfect drink, taste but no points. πŸ™‚ lol.

For some reason diet Coke stopped tasting good, I don’t know why, it just started tasting icky and everytime I drank it I got sick feeling to my stomach so, sadly, I had to stop drinking it. I had hoped that if I took a couple months off from drinking it I’d be able to go back to it but nope, it still tastes icky.  😦 I didn’t want to go back to drinking regular Coke, and even if I decided the points were worth it it’s too sweet for me now, damn my changed tastebuds!

So, for all the above mentioned reasons, shrug, I stopped drinking pop. Some months ago I experimented with Diet Ginger Ale and found I could drink that, it tasted good, had no points, and didn’t make my tummy feel sick so when I wanted pop at least I could have it again but really, I just kinda stopped drinking it…Now, thanks to KL introducing me to this half n half combo I have found that I can drink cola again, it tastes good, it doesn’t hurt my tummy, make me feel sick or taste gross, and well…it’s not as many points as a regular pop, although it is more points then a diet or say, glass of water *rolls eyes* lol

I don’t drink this combo often, but for a couple days now I have been craving it so I bought the two small bottles, one of each, and have enough pop to have the drink twice. Really, I could have just had it as one drink but I thought I’d spread it out a bit…This may work out ok or this may become something I crave a lot and either cave and get or don’t get and well…think about having all the time…guess we’ll see how it goes πŸ™‚
